According to some, 08 doesn't count because (a) they played the Rays and (b) the clinching game was suspended.

ice grillin you

id much rather have a chance of beating the celtics and getting swept by the heat than having a chance to beat the hawks and getting swept by the heat

losing to the devils barely hurts at all because of the awesomeness of the pittsburgh series...imagine if they had beaten florida in the first round and then got rolled by the devils....would be a lot different

if your team has zero chance of winning the title why not look for the most intriguing playoff series to be in

if the sixers were a title contender then youd have an argument as it would make sense to want a team like boston out

titles trump all but rivalry series come next

I guess 2008 doesn't count because they didn't beat the Dodgers, Braves and Yankees in the same run?

it certainly counts...but i think even the biggest homer would admit it was a less than an ideal finish....beating the yankees in the 09 world series would have lapped 2008 by a trillion
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

phillies had a legit chance (obviously) to win the WS In 08 though.  The Sixers have no shot, so who cares whether they're more likely to beat ATL?  It isn't even that big of a difference anyway -- they probably only have a 5-10% better chance of beating ATL than they would Boston.

if the nba was a series of one game playoffs, that could be different because they could theoretically beat the heat once, but they can't do it in 7 games unless lebron and wade both blow out their ACLs so I'd rather see them play an entertaining series against Boston.

Of course I do, so what?  Am I supposed to want fierce divisional rivalries in the playoffs in every sport, even if it means your team gets eliminated?  farg that.  I want titles.  I guess 2008 doesn't count because they didn't beat the Dodgers, Braves and Yankees in the same run?

THE SIXERS CANNOT WIN A TITLE THIS YEAR. please understand this.

this is what this whole thing is about. they, in fact, dont even deserve to beat the bulls but are getting a gift from the injury gods. now they have a chance to play (and beat?) their hated rival, but you want the hawks because it would be an "easier" path to getting swept by miami.

easy.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

I know they aren't winning anything.  I don't even think this series is done yet and they could still lose all three.  Beating an injured Bulls team doesn't hide the fact that their offense blows.  What I want from these guys is to get far enough so some decent talent may finally say "You know what?  Maybe these guys have something going on" and would want to come here to get this team to the next level, and IMO being a conference finalist looks better than losing in the 1st and 2nd round every year like Atlanta, Memphis and Utah.  Yeah, I know there's cap issues all the time thanks to King and Stefanski, but I'm tired of players considering LA, NY, Florida, Dallas, etc, and signing MLEs with those guys to play with the superstars while we're stuck with leftovers like Tony Battie.  The Boston/Atlanta crap doesn't matter because it's gonna be Boston anyway, the Celtics will win in 5 or 6, and the Sixers won't be any better next year and will continue to be 4th in this city...

oh i see, management will suddenly try and start winning IF they reach the ec finals. but if they lose to boston they wont?
