Also, my favorite part of this early success is the people online and in real life who always point out bball sucks are now jumping on the wagon.

Fans like you who've been so supportive over the years are a treasure to behold.

I'm just pointing out how annoying the anti NBA crowd is in this city.  They all forget the sixer flags on cars in 01.

up until the middle of last year the sixers were a colossal farcical joke that didnt deserve 1 fan to show up and watch them

between the end of the AI era through eddie jordan....it was brutally, brutally bad. it was like the late 90's phillies where a lot of people who normally get into couldnt be brought to care (that be me).

so right now its not really people jumping on the bandwagon...its the normal fans gradually coming back after about 5 years of being pushed away by terrible basketball. its the not the instant switch the eagles have where they can pull a 40 rating overnight. i mean the phillies didnt even do it that quickly. they were not drawing people in the early 2000's when they were halfway decent. they weren't even drawing more than 20k as far back as 2006.

when you win world series and become the red sox/yankees of the NL, you get a bandwagon. when you give the heat and a run and start the new season with wins over indiana and sacramento, you get the core group back. and thats what irking me, that the core group is too slow to come back. im not expecting a south jersey/munsonion delaware group to come until they win the title, but the regular fans should all be back by now.

so i suppose those of you that stuck with them through everything and watched all 82 games of the eddie jordan era deserve props. you guys are the bestest fans in the whole wide world.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Rome

Amazingly enough this exact issue has been bandied about previously.

Enjoy them now is the point and who gives a farg if someone is a bandwagon fan or not?

MDS

it depends how you define bandwagon

havas is a maniac and anyone whose life doesnt revolve around sports is a bandwagon fan. everyone else probably sees them more as the types of people you see at phillies games now that hang out in ashburn alley and eat crab fries and take facebook pictures.

those types of people dont even know who the sixers are at this point and will not being buying their lou wil jerseys for quite some time.

Hawk

I have no problem with bandwagon fans.   I have a problem with the NBA sucks/no one cares about the lockout crowd posting status updated.   That's not bandwagon, its hypocritical.

SunMo

i'm not as crazy as ol igy but i don't like it when "casual" fans celebrate my teams winning when they haven't "earned" it.  like, i had people at my work wearing phillies shtein with the farging tags on it basically during the 08 series, and while it's nice that it brings everyone together, it annoys me because these farging people weren't suffering through Omar Daal as the ace of the staff, they were living a normal farging life.  why do they get to celebrate now?

oh well.
I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

Hawk

Also, it can't be understated how Nocioni has accepted his role on the end of the bench.   The sixers can now save their amnesty on Brand for next year.  Now let's hope Jrue and Iguodala can convince their buddy Dwight that the sixers are the best fit.   The Nets are an absolute joke.  I know it's a long shot but the sixers would be his best fit unless OkC got involved.

Rome

When the Eagles were winning and going to the NFCCG every year we had at least 30-40 Eagles fans watching the games at the bar where I watch them.  During the 98-99 seasons we had 4.  During the last couple of seasons we've started out with maybe 15-20 and against Dallas for the finale we had the same 4 we had in 98-99.

I get it and agree to a point that people who only care when there's a winner in town are dickfaces, but I'd much rather watch with 30-40 bandwagoners than sit with three other diehards.

I will say that the three guys I watch them with are from Philly whereas the other people tend to be from here or there.  It's part of the deal living in a beach town in the south.

MDS

and again this bandwagon discussion is moot, because there is no sixers bandwagon at the moment

they are still in the process of corralling everyone back in. the question is if/when they get legit good and are winning playoff series how big does it get? the 01 bandwagon was off the charts and possibly bigger than 08 phillies. but only one had AI.

nothing, though can compare to 04 eagles. super bowl week was unlike anything than can exist in a city.

Doesn't look like Hawes is going tonight...Battie will get the start.

SD

Hope I'm wrong here but I can already see Iguodala trying to do too much tonight and farging up their chemistry. He has that look early.

Jrue is hot early, keep feeding him.

Sixers are having trouble getting off screens.

I can't for the life of me figure out why people give more than a passing shtein about this.  I can care less if someone's been a fan of a team for 20 years or 20 minutes.  The fair weather/bandwagon types are celebrating it simply for the sake of celebrating it and getting drunk.  It's like everyone who isn't Irish getting drunk on St Patrick's day and  don't have a clue who the hell St Patrick is or why there's a day named after him.  Whatever, shtein doesn't bother me one bit.    I just make every effort to avoid contact with them because I find them unbearable to talk to.  Could really care less about whether or not they've "earned" the right to celebrate it.  Get drunk and enjoy it, just don't try and talk to me about it.
