Thats with Vicks rushing yards, that sort of hard to count as real running yardage. They can run the ball when they want to, that's why its frustrating to me when they don't. I'd rather see them take their time on offense then force things and have so many 3 and outs when they should be sustaining long drives and controlling the clock.

oh so now rushing yards by a running qb dont count as rushing yards?

i guess yardage off screen plays really arent passing yardage...so we will count all those as rushing yards and call it even

deal?

Yeah, I don't really get that argument either.  Rushing yards are rushing yards whether they come from a direct hand off, QB  scramble or end around.  I know Mussa wants a more balanced offense with called run plays vs called pass plays but after 12 years of Reid, that simply isn't going to happen and we should accept that as reality.  Besides, with the receivers that the Eagles have now, I don't mind the higher % of pass plays being called.  This team is built to pass and they should do just that.  Besides, it's a passing league right now and will be for the foreseeable future.

ive said it a million times but reids biggest is when he ran not how much he ran....and while hes still far from perfect and will call some horrible games he has shown in the last couple years that he will run out a game which is something he rarely did before...

other than 1999 when i just didnt care that much and was still trying to figure out his tendencies last year was the season i had the least amount of meltdowns over reids play calling

they are baby steps and this isnt saying a ton but hes def at the peak of his play calling right now

You and me both.  I said numerous times that I felt last year was easily Reid's best coaching job and that his play calling was remarkably better than years passed.  He picks his spots when it comes to running the ball and last year he picked them quite nicely for the most part.

He still out thinks himself and is generally still bad at adjusting throughout the course of the game, but those are things I don't suspect will ever change.  Should the Eagles make it back to the Super Bowl, you just have to hope that his game plan is effective, otherwise it'll just be another post season failure.

Munson

Curious how many plays that would have failed last year, and we would have been all over him....except Vick would run for the first down and save his ass.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

LBIggle

maybe there should be a stat for yards for when the historically bad offensive line gets vick shuffled from the pocket or when the play is so bad it never had a chance to begin with with and vick goes ahead and makes it happen anyway.

Sgt PSN

When you have a qb like Vick, you know that there's always the possibility that he'll bail out a bad play call/poor protection with his legs.  Even if a coach were to call the absolute perfect play 100% of the time it's still up to the players to execute it properly, which will never happen 100% of the time.  So no matter how good or bad a play call might be, protection breaks down, receivers run wrong routes, running backs miss blocking assignements, etc, etc and a certain level of improv will have to be utilitzed in order to keep moving forward.

I'm still impressed that he admitted Vick was too good to keep on the bench. You know how bad he wanted to stick to his guns and pound his chest every time Kolb had a good game.

oh vick was a much bigger deal to andy than cobb....if cobb plays hes just a second round pick qb who starts for andy and plays well in his system.....vick is out of levenworth and was a horrible qb his whole career....if andy can turn that into a legit qb he is gawd for life....theres no contest btwn the two pet projects and andys ego was fully invested into vik they day they signed him...he was looking for ways to give him the job

As Obama is to the Republicans, so FF is to igy.  The guy could say the sky is blue and you would find an insulting way to argue the point.

This is still the prediction thread right?  My eyes glazed over looking at the retard fight, but here it goes:

I think they could easily be looking at 3-3 at the bye - considering that the shrink wrap hasn't even been taken off the new o-line yet if they are 3-3 and Vick is healthy this would be a win.

The Eagles will be a completely different team after the bye.  Some of this will be because the team will begin to "gel", some will be because they will add a LB before the trade deadline, and some will be because that's just what AR teams do.

When its all said and done, this team should end up 11-5.  Vick will play in at least 14 games, Pimp will surprise and be the teams leading WR (although McCoy will probably lead the team in catches), and the Eagles will win the division.  I see a loss in the divisional round - probably on the road in GB.
I believe I've passed the age of consciousness and righteous rage
I found that just surviving was a noble fight.
I once believed in causes too,
I had my pointless point of view,
And life went on no matter who was wrong or right.

Almost exactly how I feel.  3-3 at bye, don't panic, turn it on last half of the season.  Playoffs still a huge concern with AR at the helm.

11-5 and they win their first playoff game at home.  Beyond that, who knows...
