Don't rip your Owls, son.

He must be from Philly

Despite the hot water it could land him in, Joe Bryant isn't letting a little thing like the law stand in the way of reppin' the city of Brotherly Love.

The former Sixers star and father of NBA All-Star Kobe Bryant told the Los Angeles Times that he still has Pennsylvania license plates on his SUV, even though he resides in California. Bryant was recently reappointed as coach of the WNBA's Los Angeles Sparks; he led the team to a 25-9 record and a conference finals berth as head coach in 2006.

"[The plates are] part of my roots," Bryant told the newspaper. "I won't let it go."

The state of California is unlikely to go to great lengths to hunt down "Jellybean" for a misdemeanor traffic offense, but why play the odds?

if donovan mcnabb stuck to basketball, he'd be evan turner
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

QuoteThe Sixers have been sold for $280 million dollars to New York billionaire Joshua Harris.

so no more shots of ed snider pretending to care?

one of the more intersting parameters of the deal is that the sixers will remain on csn for the foreseeable future. you might not be thinking that thats a big deal, but the only thing stopping the phillies from spending like the red sox and yankees is the lack of their own tv network. and they cant get their own tv network without a partnership from the nhl or nba team in town to help offset costs and provide adequate alternate programming (like yes has with the nj nets and nesn has with the bruins).

since comcast owns the flyers they are never moving, but the sixers might have with a different deal. now, everyone has to wait.

lol...seriously

they will never be on par with the yankees or red sox no matter what...even with their own network the phillies are still a regional team...locked in from the north with ny and the south with dc balt....yanks and red sox are national if not worldwide franchises

the phils goal is to stay on par with the angels and mets (when the mets have non broke owners)

"We are honored to have the opportunity to be affiliated with this storied franchise," Harris said in the news release. "As a basketball fan who attended college in Philadelphia, and with family roots here, I have always felt a strong connection to this city and the 76ers. We look forward to helping the 76ers organization build on this past season's accomplishments in the years ahead."

i wouldnt expect anything less at this stage of the game but so far so good with mr harris...if nothing else he has identified the potential problem with a ny'er buying a philly team and is trying to craft himself as a step son of the city

Are you for real?  You do know that license plates are only issued by states, not cities right?  So if he has PA plates, he's not really reppin Philly at all.....unless it's a vanity plate that says PHILLY...which I doubt.  So he's really only reppin PA, which happens to be more than just Philly.  Besides, it's SoCal where there are millions of transplants from all over the country and I see license plates from every state every day.  You can register your vehicle in 1 state and live in another.  You know this, right?
