I'm pissed!

Why?

You realize if the cardinals catch the braves, they're going to be here next week for the NLDS. There is/was no reason to make even the slightest attempt to win this game or series.

Although it would be nice to see Manual become the winningest manager in phillies history, if for no other reason it angers the fans who think they know more than he does.

ice grillin you

the phils have a .435 (30-39) winning percentage in games where they score three or fewer runs....other teams record in the same kind of games

rays 14-51 .215

The lineups in this afternoon's game are pathetic.

For the Phils, no Jimmy, no grit, no choke, no Polanco, no Chooch, no Raul, Kendrick is starting and the catcher is Erik Kratz.

For the Nats, no Zimmerman, no Werth, no Morse, no Ramos, Steve Lombardozzi Jr is playing and Tom Milone is starting.

Here's the Phils lineup if you need a laugh:
Victorino
Valdez SS
Mayberry 1B
Pence
Francisco
Kratz
Orr 2B
Martinez 3B
Kendrick

MDS

yea its pathetic

they need to win these games

its so important they go into the playoffs on a winning note

you have to remember these are just kids and they might not know the difference between a pointless regular season game and the playoffs

fargING WIN A GAME FOR A CHANGE COME ON IM SO MAD
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

They'll probably go off for 8-10 runs.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

smeags

if sports history shows the fans anything its that every team that has every shut it down early to rest players or because they feel there's no need to go into the playoffs on a hot streak have "always", i mean "always" won it all and there's zero reason to even bring up the thought that anything less than a parade is going to happen.

seriously people ... listen to lupe fiasco here, he's smarter than you are.

Did Ed's post say all that? I missed it

No, it was me and Rome throwing gasoline on the fire.

I will not panic.  I will not panic.  I will not panic.

QuoteAlthough the Phillies have scored more than three runs only once in their last 11 games, nobody at One Citizens Bank Way seems concerned about a return to the offensive sluggishness that marked the first few months of the season and led to the trade that netted Pence. They have spent the last 3 months as one of the National League's most prolific offenses, despite a litany of nagging injuries that have sidelined Howard, Utley, Rollins, and Placido Polanco for various stretches of time.
