we all knew how bad ibanez has been vs lefties this year .209 avg....but i was just looking at his numbers and he has an amazing three walks in 115 pa this year vs lefties...i think its safe to say he should not start against a lefty for the rest of his phillies career

I disagree with this. Mayberry is a better option vs. lefties than Dom is right now. And Raul has been solid vs. righthanders.

Dom wasn't lighting the world on fire, but he had good numbers, better than Ibanez.  he walked more, and got on base more.  I wouldve been fine with a Dom/Mayberry platoon

But platooning Dom wasn't going to happen. that's the only thing. They don't want that...no one in the organization wants him playing a couple of times a week. He'll never improve (especially that defense) that way.

mayberry and dom are most likely gonna platoon next year so i dont see what the big deal would be this year

that said i would be against it this year just because dom would be completely outclassed in the post season when the opposition talent level is much greater and the stakes are much higher...plus hes a game losing fielding faux paux ready to happen and you cant have that in the playoffs

gotta live with ibanez for another two and half months but he only plays against righties

Which is why the Phillies aren't going to bury Ibanez. For one thing, Manuel has too much respect for him. For another, it's not how he operates. Most importantly, there's no real reason to. I mean, he has driven in 30 runs in his last 32 games.

Living with production like that really isn't terrible, although some might argue RBI is a meaningless stat.
