I guess this isn't worth arguing, because someone from the HOF Braves will win MVP.

Eagles_Legendz

A is Rollins when he won the mvp.

B is Victorino's projections if he hadn't missed 26 games.  Obviously those missed games count but he has been insanely productive.

LBIggle

victorino is an idiot.  not sure why you would think everyone loves vic and everyone hates howard.  just because howard can bomb the ball 5 billion feet doesn't change the fact its still only one home run.  and if you want to take away the triples that victorino gets because he's fast then you can take away some of the citizens bank special solo home runs that howard gets.

Not to mention the fact that every single one of Howard's homeruns are meaningless stat padders, amiright?

Player A:
runs   2B     3B    HR    RBI    SB    CS      BB     K       AVG   OBP   SLG   OPS
139    38    20    30    94    41    6    49    85    .296    .344    .531      .875

Player B:
runs    2B     3B   HR   RBI   SB    CS    BB   K    AVG    OBP   SLG   OPS
130    36     22    22    75    28    5     71   75   .310  .391   .542   .932

You tell me whether Player A's 19 extra RBIs and 8 extra HRs are enough to offset player B hitting for higher average and getting on base at a significantly higher rate (thus leading to more RBI opportunities etc for people behind him in the lineup---i.e. giving people the chance to drive him in).

Yes, they are, and it's central to the argument

Player A's runs produced number is an impressive 203

Player B's is a not really spectacular 183.

And like I said before, being available to play counts for a ton.

Dillen

Justin Upton and Prince Fielder are both having significantly better seasons than both Victorino and Howard.

Don't let that bother you guys though, please continue this important argument.

I firmly agree with that Dillen. And using CF logic, you can project Pujols snumbers out to 162 games and give him the trophy.

MDS

shut up

arthur rhodes hits FA today. he can still get lefties out but blows chunks against right handers.

middle inning left handed specialist? why not.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

LBIggle

and all you nerds can throw out numbers and watch the games to realize while important to the lineup, howard isn't having an mvp type season.  the lineup was ass for quite some time and is really just now hitting stride with utley back and pence in there too. but for howard to be an mvp again.. he'll have to have close to the same numbers when he was.. which is about 50 points higher batting average and what will probably amount to another 15+ home runs.  citizens bank specials welcome.  right now he isn't even mvp on the phillies.

Eagles_Legendz

Last comment from me: the entire run production relies extensively on teammates.  How many are on base (rbi) and who can drive you in (runs).  If you think it isn't wholly dependent on batting order you're a farging moron.  Whem Vic bats 6th, who was supposed to drive him in exactly?

It doesn't matter.   You think rbis are more important than getting on base and slugging %.  You're wrong but that has never stopped you before so have at it.

Don Ho

"Well where does Jack Lord live, or Don Ho?  That's got to be a nice neighborhood"  Jack Singer(Nicholas Cage) in Honeymoon in Vegas.

Munson

In the end, ryan howard is paid to drive runs in and hit home runs. as long as hes doing that, i dont give a farg about any of his other numbers

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds
