I like Joe Buck and don't mind his monotone voice. You have to keep in mind he's a national guy and doesn't carry the passion of a local announcer. It's hard to get excited when you're not emotionally invested in something.

Love this call:
"Desean Jackson...."
"Gets a block!"
"Are you kidding me!"

Don't be a national announcer calling a World Series clinching game then. If you can't put any emotion behind the winning strike out...you shouldn't be doing what you do.

Also with the world series call I'm glad Buck's voice was monotone and not what I remember the most. The crowd reaction, fireworks, and The Who in the background are enough to give me goosebumps whenever I think of that moment.

only something like the pimp return which was a spur of the moment nutso once in a lifetime thing could get him going, otherwise he aint getting up for sports

he wants to be a talk show host and announcing is beneath him. problem is hes not funny or likeable and damn lucky david hill is on his nuts.

the first was awful until artie lange came on

he wanted to do a comedy and sports mix or something and the hbo execs were trying to make him to bob costas' show.

it just wasnt a good match mostly because joe buck is terrible.

if i wanted to be an announcer i wouldnt be doing what im doing right now

in fact i wouldnt even want his career if i was into that. on sundays i want to watch the eagles not cowboys/racists.

I listened to the game on the radio since I'm back here in PA - loved hearing Franzke and LA. LA has gotten saltier and I love it. Paulino gets his eighth hit against the Phils and LA was like "how about one of these guys knocks him down or moves his feet a bit. Is that an option?!"
