I don't think they were trying to replace pimp with KKKooper, they were replacing him with Maclin, which is fine. But Maclin doesn't open things up for other receivers the way pimp did. That's the problem. You need a strong #2 if Maclin is your 1. Basically you'd need another Maclin.

I know shady has had a bit of a down year, but he's still top 5 in rushing yards.  The offense as a whole has been wildly inconsistent this year...and it's going to be that way until they get a QB.

Every team but the Colts seems to be able to find some third stringer like CJ Anderson they can just plug in and get those yards. Shady's a very good RB. But if the line is intact, I'm confident Chip can replace his production. The running game isn't about one guy anymore. Teams have gotten too good at being able to shut down an individual RB talent. What they can't shut down is the combo of good schemes, good blocking, and a competent running back.

QB is still 90% about the individual. That's why it seems like there are 10 decent QBs in the league and 100 decent RBs. Shady's replaceable because nearly every back is replaceable. In fact, I think there's a good chance the Cowboys let DeMarco Murray walk.

1. Chip Kelly has a problem and it may be in the locker room. His decision to release DeSean Jackson and bring back Riley Cooper was never going to please every player on the team. Kelly obviously knew that. But it certainly raised eyebrows from a certain faction of the locker room and in recent weeks there have increasingly been murmurs from several players about the decision. The way the Eagles lost on Saturday, with Jackson delivering daggers to the defense, prompted two players to lament his absence to me. "And then [Jackson] burns us," one starter said. "That hurt because you think, 'Damn, he should be on our team. Why he isn't he on our team?'" Another player: "I miss him. We miss him. ... It was a mistake." There are others, but they're unwilling to go on the record for obvious reasons. Jackson said after the game that some of his former teammates were telling him as much even during the game. "They constantly tell me how much they miss me and they wish I was still there, but that's a decision they chose to make in the front office." Let's be clear: It was Kelly's choice. Right or wrong, it's had ramifications in the locker room. It's unclear if it will fester.
