I was talking with a guy I know yesterday about how cool it is to be an Eagles fan right now.  I always thought he was a decent enough sort.  I mean he's a Cowboys fan, but other than that, he always seemed like a good dude. 

Anyway, I innocently asked what was going on with Zeke Elliott - you know, why's he holding out - nothing major. 

He then launches into a tirade about Malcolm Jenkins being a piece of shtein for refusing to stand and no matter how much of a scum bag Elliott is for hitting a woman, Jenkins is worse. 

Here's a guy I always thought was a decent guy and I find out he's little more than a piece of trash.  After a few seconds to collect myself I asked him if he would honestly prefer to have a woman beater over a guy who silently protests injustice.  He said yes and then proceeded to call me a Hoyda liberal and that I should leave America and take Jenkins with me.

I just laughed and said, uhhh sure, dude.  Whatever you say. 

Just incredible what has happened in two years.  Trump has literally made it safe for these termites to scream their racist trash loudly and proudly.

I was so disgusted I didn't even say another word.  I didn't see any point to it.  I honestly never expected that response.  When I say I was stunned, it's not hyperbole. 

Edit... I think I may have mixed in the bit about kneeling being a sign of respect for a fallen soldier, though.

I'm more proud to be an Eagles fan because of Jenkins' stance and the team's solidarity in supporting him than I was before he began his protest.  I know that much.

Jenkins is intelligent and articulate, and is able to get his message across in an effective, thoughtful manner.

Jenkins is unafraid of how those in power see him.

Jenkins is involved in the community, and puts his money and time where his mouth is.

Jenkins is a truth-teller in a nation where many want to continue believing the lies being told by those in power.

I can only speak for myself, but I am damn glad that he's a Philadelphia Eagle.
