I'm not sure what to make of Carroll at this point. He played fairly well when the defense was playing well, but he's also been not so good the last couple of weeks either. Either way, he's kind of lucky that he doesn't have to take the field again this year.

hes a competent second corner....problem is hes easily their best corner

its goes back to chip gutting the roster

think about on the outside...both sides of the ball

maxwell - carroll - rowe - biggers on defense

kkk - matthews - huff - agoholor on offense

im sorry but thats just not going to get it done....this roster is sickening

Chip is eerily similar to Billick in bodymore in the sense that the supposed offensive genius has more talent on defense than offense.  That's the most sickening thing. It would be one thing if the offense was dropping 30+ per game and the defense just couldn't hold. At least you could look at Chip and say that his offense and strategy works, but that's no where near the case.

Sgt PSN

And agreed on Carroll....I think competent 2nd corner is probably a good description of him. It's hard sometimes to really judge guys on the outside and get a really good indication of where they stand because there's so many things to consider that may not be very obvious. A LB or DE or NT is pretty easy to grade, they either wreak havoc or they don't. There could be a million reasons why a corner gets beat that's got nothing to do with his actual ability...could be a bad defensive play call, or the corner passing a guy off to a safety, but the safety doesn't cover, or being asked to cover Megatron 1 on 1 in the red zone.

Except Billick didn't take three 1300+ yard offensive weapons and tell them to get out.

The man. The myth. The legend.

Sgt PSN

That's because Billick knew how hard it was to beat NFL defenses.

because billick was prepared to be an nfl hc...he had an nfl resume...was in the league for 5-6-7 years...which prepared him for being an nfl hc

chip never sniffed the nfl in any capacity and 6-7 years before he was in the nfl he was OC for the university of new hampshire...which prepared him for being completely overwhelmed

chip never left new england college football until he went to oregon....which isnt even the sec, let alone the big 12 or big 10

the dude was raised in a football culture of hard working small town dudes who make 40k, love football and love going around the corner to the pub to talk shop. its a fine life. except nobody gives a flying farg about what they do.

now hes in the nfl, where if he takes a shtein it winds up on twitter and wip. he had no idea what he was getting himself into. he thought he did. hes out of his element.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

which makes it even more crazy that lurie made him a general manager of an nfl team...I personally wouldn't have hired him as coach but I get and even respect that lurie was going off the board and trying to do something different but to hand him the keys to an nfl castle was/is mind boggling

lurie fell in love with him....it reached a point last year where it was either chip or howie. lurie chose chip.

the question now becomes does lurie have the stones to cut costs and admit he was wrong. he gave rhodes 1 year too many and andy like 5. i dont foresee a change.

I think he gets one more year.

I don't see Lurie cutting bait just yet. They'll meet after the season and I expect to hear he's coming back another year.
