It's fair to point out though that 7 games against playoff teams is about what you'd expect on average (ie 7 games out of 17 against playoff teams vs 7 teams out of 16 that make the playoffs per conference).

they stink but they also have the bye and inexcliably won in 2018 so anything is possible

Not sure haven't looked but is the +20 a record?

Quote
Final division W/L totals:

NFC East — +20

AFC North — +9

AFC East — +7

AFC West — +2

NFC North — -2

NFC West — -6

NFC South — -10

AFC South — -20

Looks like it's the most wins in NFL history (43-23-2, .647).

The 2007 AFC South had a slightly better winning percentage (42-22, .656).

So the +20 would (I think) tie the record.

winning % is all that matters since they play more games now

For a #1 seed, all routes other than the Lombardi come with sadness but...

Playoff loss scenarios

Worst:
Losing in any round against the Giants or Cowboys

Really bad:
Getting blown out in the divisional or championship round against anyone else, or in the Super Bowl by a #4-#7 seed AFC team

Minimum to not be totally miserable:
Losing a squeaker NFCCG to SF, or
Getting eradicated by KC or BUF in the SB

Sad but still feeling kinda proud:
Losing a squeaker SB to KC or BUF (unless they get jobbed by the refs)

Everything else would be a bad result between "Really bad" and "Minimum to not be totally miserable".

id rather get blown out by the giants than lose a heartbreaker to anyone...for example i dont even think about the celtics blasting the sixers in 2018 but i still have nightmares about the quadruple doink or even the alshon jefferey drop a few years ago against the saints haunts but could care less about all the playoff poundings to the cowboys

The Saints aren't in this year, so there's no guaranteed loss.

Definitely this. I barely remember the blowout loss to Dallas other than air guitar

Blowouts are great, you get to crush those expectations quick and not be miserable the next day about it.

sad but true....i can barely handle a close postseason game of any kind and if they lose i feel miserable (or more miserable than my normal every day self) for a month...no matter who they playing gimme a win or down 28-0 at the end of 1Q

I just felt a bit sick reading about the Alshon drop. God dammit.

Speaking of the Saints I still think about the god damn false start there by Scott Young

MDS

the scott young false start is worse...the alshon drop was brutal but they had just won the super bowl so it was a house money year

06 was after 3 nfccg losses and the super bowl loss and led to mcnabb openly smiling after the L
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

The method of the loss could absolutely be worse than dropping a random two-score game to the Cowboys. Unbelievable comeback, unbelievable choke, unbelievable referee fargup. But if they lose in something resembling a normal NFL game, I'd rather it be to a better team and not to a division rival.
