On paper the '21 Birds might be the worst Eagles team of our lifetimes. This thing is shaping up to be a major trainwreck.

I'm ready for it. Any form of entertainment derived from this coming season -- including laughing at bad plays -- is going to be like an unexpected bonus.

Worst case scenario: the young players are all terrible but the old vets play well enough to win 5-6 games.

1998 was a train wreck. They had Troy, Dawk & Duce and a winding it down Willie T and that's it.

they had hugh as well but my god they were truly awful that year...they had 7 total passing td's on the season...simply horrific

my first ever eagle game as a season ticket holder was the 38-9 seahawk debacle

not that they ever had a waiting list at the vet but you know the eagles are truly awful when you can get seven seats together anywhere you want in the stadium

That was one of the last games I attended in 301 before the Linc was built. I had a great time at that tailgate that day. I do remember thinking that Ohio State piece of shtein QB had a shot to make it before that game. Yikes.

The case for optimism is if you think Hurts is something other than a bottom 5 starting QB. I'm less sure about that, but there is at least potential of a breakout season. I am more concerned about the times he looked as bad as Wentz, particularly once teams get more tape on his tendencies.

The case for pessimism is a depleted roster of old LII vets and Howie draft picks, coached by a staff with possibly less combined experience than any NFL staff I can remember. There's also a decent chance of them blatantly tanking the year if Hurts struggles early.
