I don't think you have to be all out on Wentz to take the chance on Mailata or even the African Prince.  It's football.  You get hit.

Besides, it's hard for me to imagine that Wentz is much safer with JP than with Mailata or another, and no way to know for sure without trying the kid out.   If you can't put him in under these circumstances, then why is he on the team at all?  If you don't play him this year, when do you ever play him?  Without real snaps no one will ever know if he can play.

JP can't play NFL caliber LT anymore.   He's not getting it done.

Also, re: Mailata:  what evidence do we have that he's so incompetent that it would be dangerous to Wentz for him to play?  It's not like he's been a disaster in the (very limited) time he's had on the field.

ice grillin you

Mailata clearly can't play...the reports from training camp were super ugly...guys that didn't even make the roster were destroying him
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

igy gettin it done like warrick

im the board pharmacist....always one step above yous

this tie will probably get the eagles into the playoffs because division is complete shtein so they'll just run everything completely back next year with all of the same people.

the eagles have a max of three wins left in their schedule

Underrated aspect of what's going on is how little the scheme has changed since 2017. The Eagles mesh isn't fooling defenses anymore. Every game we've seen teams sitting on those short and intermediate routes. Sometimes it looks like defense understands the play better than the receivers. Can't keep trotting the same shtein out every year and expect it to keep working. That's why Chip is out of the NFL. Have yet to see any evidence Press Taylor brings anything to the coaching room. I thought they hired that guy from Denver to help switch things up.

MDS

they have

a moron for a head coach
two 'senior offensive assistants' in morningweig and scancgarello
a passing game coordinator
a running game coordinator
an assistant head coach

classic too many cooks in the kitchen and its frying the ginger galaxy brain of your franchise qb

on top of that the roster sucks, everyone is old and the year barely counts to begin with
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Jeff Stoutland should get some respect.  While Howie is talking to the press about the Eagles being a QB factory, Stoutland is actually punching out serviceable offensive lineman year after year.

By conventional wisdom, Mailata, Driscoll, and Herbig had no business starting/playing yesterday and should by all rights have been atrocious.  Instead, they played a straight up solid game, and if you grade them on a curve, they played great.

Since 2014 season, the OL has been the least of the Eagle's problems.  Stoutland routinely gets better than could be expected.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

Great call out.  Hell at one point they had the three young bucks and Pryor out there.  They held their own.  Yes the Niners DL is a mess but they still have a solid defense.  That clip of Baldinger critiquing Mailata was impressive all down the OL.  If Ginger stopped spinning like a contestant on Dancing with the Stars in the pocket he had time all game and he missed wide open receivers.

seeing this dio - mailata romance blossom is heartwarming.

It's a crucial element of the story arc, and always precedes the fall.  Next week, he'll be exposed and you can then relish my heartbreak.

At least someone found something to care about during the hellyear season.

The man. The myth. The legend.

True. And on a similar note, is there anyone more underrated in the league than Jason Kelce? He's been all pro for the last 3 years. Is there anyone else in the league that can make that claim? (Bobby Wagner was but he is a mlb in a 4-3, as was Keuchly, who also went twice in that time frame, so you can count that or not).

Aaron Donald is one of the best defensive players of all time and has been All Pro every year for a lot of years.
