lane is staying at rt, vaiti slides in at lt

there is no replacing an all pro lt. not possible. picking someone off the street and plugging them into lt isnt much of an option either. vaiti is what he is. i think he will hold up fine in pass pro. run blocking a different beast. its just not going to be as effective. but the key is carson. if vaiti keeps him clean they can still win.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Yup, that's my biggest concern. Keeping Carson's spine somewhat linear. The offense is one of those where a short pass compensates for a run.

[statingtheobvious]I'd rather have a 3-yard gain than one of those east-west runs that nets nothing.[/statingtheobvious]

It's all on Carson now to make up for Peters.
I said watch the game and you will see my spirit manifest.-ILLEAGLE 02/04/05

Maybe they should consider moving Brooks over to LG. Vaitai/Seamalu/Warmack/Wis on the left side is a recipe for disaster. I still think Howie makes a trade.

Sgt PSN

I think he's at least gotta look into it. The NFC...and league in general...seems to be pretty wide open this year and the Eagles look to be as complete a team as any right now.  Not sure if Howie is in "win now mode" yet or not. 2 weeks ago I had a completely different outlook for this team and if Peters had gone down then, I'd have probably said to just write off the season. Not sure that's the case now. Even if you gotta overpay a little for a quality LT, this might be the time to do it.

QB Eagles

I think they need to get an LB, but I have a feeling we are stuck with Big V.

Duane Brown is disgruntled in Houston. He's making $9.4m this season and $9.75 next year and he will be a FA after.

If they feel like JP is done they could make a move for him. Depends on what they'd take in trade and what kind of deal he wants. The Eagles aren't bursting with cap space

He's 32

Tomahawk

Peters has to feel like he's done, right? I don't see him wanting to come back

PhillyPhreak54

I could see him giving it another year. How effective he will be and how well he rehabs is another story.

Most guys want to go out on their own terms and not on a cart

General_Failure

He's 35 with a multi-ligament injury. Yeah, he's done.

The man. The myth. The legend.

SD

I wouldn't be surprised to see him back next season, he's a cut above the rest

Ligament tears are nothing to lineman, they don't run full speed and cut.

Peters seemed rejuvenated this year. I saw him get really stoked after a couple of Blount runs this year, never seem him like that before. I could definitely see him coming back if he thinks the team has a legit shot. I've been thinking since the draft they should go OT if they can in the '18 draft. What will be interesting is if Peters wants to return but the team has a nice tackle fall to them in the draft. It's even possible to get that guy in the second round since he doesn't have to be a LT.

100%. He was having an All Pro season on par with his best. He was a dominant force, coming off a few seasons where he was starting to show his age a little. Mauling dudes and not really getting penalized, either. Big V had as many penalties in this game as Peters has had all season.

JP is a wall. Losing him farging blows, and that loss is definitely going to be felt the rest of the season.

Sgt PSN

Agreed. Peters looked far better than he had in the previous 2 or 3 years. He was playing at a legit all pro level. If he wants to play next year, the "good thing" about the timing of this injury is that he's got enough time for surgery/rehab and can be ready by the time camp opens...preseason at the latest.

according to nflpenalties.com, both guys have had 1 penalty for 5 yards. so thats actually technically correct but its such a meaningless number. v is not the disaster you drama queens make him out to be, but yes, he is not as good as the best lt in football.

The point wasn't that Big V is a disaster, it was how well Peters has been playing. In years past he has always racked up false starts... he had 10 last year. This year he cleaned up his game and was playing as good as I've ever seen him.
