i think pat's are actually pretty good cheesesteaks, definitely not the best in philly but it's cool to say they suck.

Agreed.

Pat's and Geno's are decent steaks, not the best in the city but respectable by cheesesteak standards. It's trendy for locals to say they blow since it's where out of towners go.

You've been in Texas too long, Rube.

I am a qualified cheesesteak expert. I actually found a good one here. Shocking!

You saying there's no such thing as a bad cheesesteak automatically disqualifies you.

Be gone.

Edited - please note who makes this piece of shtein:

When you don't eat then very often and you go home for a couple days there is not such thing as a bad one. I'd scarf down Pat's or Geno's all day compared to the slop served in most areas and called a Philly cheesesteak.

Rule of thumb:  If they call it a "Philly cheesesteak," it probably not.

Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

The only two decent cheesesteaks I've found away from Philly are from a local place, Claymont Steak Shop...and at the country club I work at.

The Claymont Steak Shop ones are good but could use a little more cheese/grease, and the ones in the pub at the CC are nice and greasy with a decent steak/cheese ratio.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

Wow, only 59.  He was a helluva pitcher for a few years.

to clarify, what I meant was there's no bad steak in philly, made exactly the way i like it. I think Jackie Martling had a joke about jacking off saying how he never finished cranking one out, then thought "well that sucked"..my exact sentiments regarding actual philly steaks.

Pretty sure I've told this here before, but oh well.  When I lived in Seattle I went to lunch with a couple friends and they had cheesesteaks on the menu.  My buddy ordered one (he was from Oklahoma or some shtein) and I immediately knew this was going to be awful when she asked him how he wanted it cooked.

20 min later out she comes with an actual steak with a couple slices of cheese on it between 2 slices of bread.  Awful.

An update on this one:  besides financial problems, he was apparently despondent over the current state of the Orioles franchise.  wow
