The best running QB ever is sacked 1 out of every 6 times he drops back. Vick may be mobile but he's always taken a lot of sacks. Without necessarily comparing the Eagles to the Bears, both teams have zesty offensive lines.

Matthews lines up on the defensive left side; just seems like he's all over the field

the eagles probably would set the all time record for sacks allowesd if vick wasnt their qb....i guess you missed all the sacks he avoided this year...its not even up for debate that the bears line is better than the eagles..then again there arent to many lines in the nfl worse than the eagles...lucily they ahve a magician at qb and great skill players all around to bail them out

and matthews probably lines up more on the left because its most qb's blind side...but watch him play and youll also see him come up the middle a ton and come from the right side as well...in fact he made the pro bowl last year playing the right side...i believe they moved him more to the left this year so he would be opposite jenkins...either way i would be shocked if they didnt use him to move vick right in this game

Once upon a time, Randall Cunningham had the record for most sacks taken in a season and prior to Vick, was also labelled the greatest running qb ever.  Vick makes a lot of big plays with his legs but he also gives up yards taking sacks by trying to extend a play when less mobile QB's would have likely thrown the ball away.

I'm not knocking Vick, its just something that comes with the territory of being a mobile qb. It's there with pretty much every running qb to ever play the game.

ice grillin you

randall took tons of sacks cause he couldnt read a defense and truly had one of the worst lines in the history of the nfl in front of him

theres plenty of mobile and or running qb's who didnt set sack records because they had good olines blocking for them

bottom line is vick has saved waaaaay more sacks this year than he has caused...if kolb or cutler for that matter was the eagles qb they would have lead the nfl no question

Yeah I don't see how anyone can say he takes more sacks because he is a mobile QB. Its mostly due to the oline and the play calling. And reverted back to the QB he was in Atlanta is laughable. Defenses have been throwing everything at the guy and Reid hasn't adjusted anything, what do you expect! Did you honestly think he wouldn't have a bad game this season? Brady, Manning, the best in the game would be doing worse with their lack of mobility. The only thing different from years past is Vick is willing and able to run, unlike McNabb. Vick has almost single handedly put us in the playoffs due to his legs and arm. Don't knock the player, knock the idiotic coaches that put him in the positions to make bad plays.

Blaming Reid for Vick's midseason drop-off from unstoppable to simply pretty good is convenient but is also bullshtein.  Vick is good at one thing when extra pressure comes: running away from it.  He can definitely stand tall in the pocket or run a bootleg play action and pick apart the defense if he has time.  But he has not been getting that time and is not making good decisions or throws.  I blame Reid on the personnel side for not having addressed the OL in the off-season, but as a coach, you can only gameplan for the blitz to a certain degree.  If the D sends 7 guys, and you keep 8 in to block, you have 2 receivers running patterns against 4 defenders.  If it's 8 guys and 9 in to block, you have 1 receiver against 3 defenders.  So putting extra blockers back there isn't exactly a recipe for awesome.  Vick has to be more accurate and decisive on his short and intermediate reads.

I should note that even "back down to Earth" Vick is better at this than Donovan ever was.

these commericals on wip advertising tickets for sunday are as embarrassing as it gets.....how do the eagles not immediately sell out a playoff game

Two problems:

1.  By losing to Joe Webb and resting the starters in consecutive weeks, the bandwagon has emptied a little.
2.  Watching a football game played outside in Philadelphia in January is better on TV than in person... and a lot cheaper.

ice grillin you

other than the current state of economy none of those reasons pass the smell test and have never caused a playoff game in this city to not sell out right away

i guess tho that the economy could be that bad.....i wouldnt know

It's not.  I, for one, am using my money to wager on the Packers instead of going to the game.  $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Maybe people just don't care as much as they used to.

MDS

possibly people just assume the game is sold out and didnt even try and buy and tickets

also people have become insanely lazy and would much prefer watching a game on their 50 inch plasma lcd hd tv with comfy couch, food and beer rather than shivering in the cold for 6 hours with crappy food and $9 beers
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

There is much more you can do, its just not about an extra blocker. The fact is I don't see them adjusting in games or until it's too late in the game. I don't know QB in the league who hasn't struggled when pressured, and behind this oline and under these plays being called, I'd challenge to see who can do better. You can't win big games by being predictable.

the 9 dollar beers is the only thing that pisses me off.  I end up spending a shteinton on booze in the game.
