the playoff race in the nfc is going to be incredible this year...i think it would be a good idea to have all this stuff in one place...we can use it for the eagles stretch run as well as game threads for the other teams and big match ups

way i see it is theres seven teams going for five spots and all seven of the teams play at least one of the other six and two of  them play two of the other six

eagles could definitely win 11 games and miss the playoffs...how many people would call for a playoff format change if this happens and a 7 or 8 win team from the nfc west makes it?

id rank them like this...in parenthesis is the schedule difficulty...the higher the number the more difficult

virtual lock
atlanta (10) - not only do they have the most wins but they have the easiest schedule of the seven..they will win the south

lookin good
chicago (16) - absolutely brutal schedule but its only slightly more difficult than their only divisonal challenger green bay who they have one more win than - bears should win the north

stay positive
new orleans (16) - strapped with another terrible schedule but they have a bead on one of the two wild card spots simply because they currently have one more win than gb phi and ny - defending champs shouldnt collapse lock them in as one of the wc's

complete coin flip
eagles (12) - ever so slight advantage over the giants (already beat them and gmen have to go to gb) and green bay (much tougher schedule than the eagles)...giant game for all intents and purposes is a win and in for them

green bay (15) - sick schedule but they get what could very well be a main competitor for the last wild card spot at home (giants)....definitely rooting for the giants next weekend

giants (13) - only team left with three of their last four on the road but they get to play both teams they are directly competing against for the playoffs (gb)/division (birds) and the eagles are at home...win either of those two games and they should be looking good

still a chance

tampa bay (9) - bad news is they have less wins than any other team in the race...good news is they have a really easy schedule

I was just talking to my friend last night about this. Playoffs start this week. We should (hopefully) be watching some good football throughout. This is not even including the AFC. Oakland, KC....Indy, Jacksonville, Houston....NY Jets and New England, Pittsburgh, Baltimore......it's nuts.

I agree...this is getting exciting to watch...and with as many bad teams as there are...in recent memory...this has become one of the most competitive final stretches for the NFL.

Let's see what the Eagles are made of. I'm hoping they can avenge the atrocity of the last two games vs. Dallas this Sunday.

My NFL erection is in full rage.
I said watch the game and you will see my spirit manifest.-ILLEAGLE 02/04/05

its good to have all this info in one place
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Not really. Repeating what IGY says is pretty much par for the course.

He probably hates you more for winning the Survival johnson.

10-6 isn't going to get the Eagles in this year unless one of those W's is against the Giants.  Eagles lose tiebreakers just about across the board in the NFC because of conference record.

Drunkmasterflex

That is why every game for the Eagles is huge from here on out.  Figures the Boys would get hot this time of year.  I'd be lying if I said this game doesn't worry me.

yeah this is not the nfc of late...its probably the strongest its been since 1995...theres been years in the last decade where the conf only had three double digit win teams...this year they should have six and they have an outside chance at seven which has never happened before

Yep.  There are people still throwing out the company line still that "it's a weak NFC blahblahblah" and really have no clue what they're talking about.  This is one of the strongest NFC's I can remember.

People seem to have a hard to separating the idea that there are 4-5 teams who could literally win the conference from the idea that it's a down year.

I won't. But I'm on the fence with this issue. I'm fine with the current set up....best way to get in is to win your division.  I like that.  It sucks in a year like this when a weak team like Seattle or StLouis gets in but its not like this is something that happens on a regular basis and youve consistanly got a superior team left on the outside looking in.  Of course, if they change it to the 6 best records getting in then I'd be fine with that too.

Eagles do not have an edge over GB. GB won the head to head game and hold the advantage over the Eagles for the Wild Card.

Division winners need to get in otherwise there's no point of having divisions. The Cardinals were widely regarded to be the worst playoff team in the history of the NFL but they damn near won the Super Bowl.

I love how the NFL backloaded the schedule with division games...this is going to be great
