If the Bears defense is so good, why do they have so few sacks? 19 sacks ties the Bears for 21st in the NFL. Conversely, no offensive line has allowed their QB to be sacked as often as the 37 the Bears have given up

No one thinks the Bears are that good (and you clearly have a vendetta against them probably stemming from living in the area). I just think the ebb and flow of things says the Eagles lose this game. It's not about matchups/coaching/who's better, it's about the Eagles coming off of 3 big wins, the Bears coming off a long week, and the Eagles having to travel.

Correct about the vendetta

Eagles seem to play better on the road than at home

Sacks are not a measurement of how good a defense is.  Points allowed and takeaways are the 2 most telling stats imo and the Bears are at the top of the league in both areas.  In fact, they are #1 in points allowed and #2 in takeaways (Eagles are #1).

Meanwhile, the Eagles are 5th in sacks (28) but are T-19 in points allowed with 22.6/game.

The Bears defense is legit, there really isn't any disputing that.  Their offense is the major weakness as they have problems at pretty much every single position, including QB.  This is where the Eagles will win or lose the game imo.....if the D doesn't give Chicago any freebees on offense, then it's going to be very hard for the Bears to win.  Hopefully the front 4/7 can get enough pressure to force Cutler into throwing an easy pick 6.

I dispute the legitimacy of the Bears defense by virtue of the quality of the offenses they've faced. It's easy to keep the Bills, Panthers, Cowboys (in week 2), Vikings, and Dolphins from scoring points. I'm not saying they have a bad defense, but it's not like the '85 Bears, or any other historic defense.

ebb and flow is why i thought theyd lose to the giants...now i feel like until vick loses a game this team is exempt from ebb and flow...im fully on board the vick train and the defense is slowly but surely making a believer out of me

most importantly unlike last year where they didnt beat a team with a winning record the entire season this year they beat the best team in the nfc (without vick btw) the colts and the giants in the first ten games...i dont know if they are a steelers ravens or patriots..ie one of the elite teams in the league and teams that are basically above the normal nfl ebb and flow but they are closer to one of those teams than they are to last years version of the eagles

Might as well throw the Jags out there too seeing as they are tied with Indy for 1st place in their division.  They played early in the year and the Jags weren't playing well at the time, but the Eagles absolutely man handled them.

Cutler is no great shakes, but that line is atrocious.  Here's hoping they get a lot of pressure from the lineman.  That should make it very difficult for the the Bears to score.

I don't know if I'd put the Ravens at the same level as the Steelers and Pats, but I'd love to see an Eagles/Pats matchup. Final score would be something like 44 to 40...who knows who'd be the winner
