So what do you want the guy to do? reverse 18 years of training and instinct and not hit him? It's football, not soccer. That's how the guy's probably played his whole life, he's not just gonna pull up and let Jackson go running by him.

I agree that it sucked and is a penalty....but dirty? come on. He didn't even get him in the head.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

Munson

Phreak, please be honest...had an Eagle delivered that hit, you'd be arguing that it wasn't helmet to helmet, there wasn't a blow to the head, etc blah blah. And I'm not the only one saying it was clean as two links have already been posted with people saying the same thing.

Everyone's pissed because it happened to an Eagle. It sucks that Pimp got destroyed but that doesn't make it a dirty hit. They've already made an effort to eliminate the blows to the head/helmet to helmet hits, which was why the defenseless receiver rule was implemented in the first place...but this play didn't even have a blow to the head.

If you thought this hit was dirty, you thought the Brown-on-Bush hit was dirty. Period.

No Munson, he doesn't have to reverse 18 years of training. All he has to do is when he goes to blow someone up - stay away from his head.

He's a cornerback. One of the positions where guys go through great lengths to avoid contact. He sized Jackson up and took that shot because he knew he could do it and he knew he was bigger.

If that is a TE, Dunta Robinson is going to the thighs or ol-laying the shtein out of that.

Dirty.

Munson

Sized him up? the catch and hit happened within a second of each other. He came off of his man/zone when he saw the ball was released and then hit Jackson when he caught the ball. He didn't have any more then a few milliseconds to "size him up". He had like a 3-5 yard window to run at him. Sheldon Brown had about 10 yards and a ball lofted in the air's worth of time to run at Reggie Bush. A bang-bang play like today's is 99% instinct. And if Dunta Robinson goes full steam ahead at Brent Celek's knee and Celek blows out an ACL, you know there are people here saying "What a dirty hit, going right at his knees, man up, square up and hit the guy in the chest!"

In a related note of me being the only person ever saying it wasn't dirty, Hoffman's article says they approached about 10 eagles in the lockerroom and no one had a bad thing to say about Robinson/the hit.

Sgt PSN

Dirty=intent to hit illegally to try and hurt someone.

That is what Munson is getting at.....he didn't think dude was trying to hurt anyone.

LOL @ you idiots for arguing over 3 pages with him on this. LOL @ Munson for not being able to exain himself in 29 paragraphs.

EH OH EL!

Rome

So how do you ignore a motherfarger again?

Munson

Mike Golic right now: Not a dirty hit

You're an old, bitter, homer bastich who is only pissy about the hit because it was on an Eagle. I'm pissed too, but it's not a dirty hit.
Now shut the farg up and take your tampon out of your old wrinkly vagina.

If I had guy scoring two touchdowns on my team I would have headhunted too......call me dirty but sticks and stones don't give concussions

Trust me he was praised in the locker room
"And with 1:16 remaining this place is in a state of shock!"

PoopyfaceMcGee

That was as clean a hit as possible, considering how BIG a hit it was.  He led primarily with his shoulder into Jackson's shoulder.  Might have gotten under the helmet a little, but his head snapped the farg back from the force of the hit to his chest... NOT from his head getting hit directly.

Cris Carter said it best... Would you rather Robinson went low to the thigh/knee and possibly ended Pimp's career?

It's a violent sport.  If it weren't, it would be boring to watch.

reese125

no question it was a clean hit.

ball hit hands and boom he was layed out. shoulder to shoulder.

matter of fact this was a just a matter of time before a 160lb wr was going to sprayed over the middle for potential career ending injury.

SunMo

I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

reese125

what do you want him to do lead with his feet?

phattymatty

yeah i obviously wish it wasn't on desean but that hit was farging AWESOME.
