its def too much money for a guy who will be "subbing in" thats for sure...its even too much for a #3 guy....especially on a team that employs multiple te's and an even an h back for god sakes...also with shady getting mad carries theres only so many balls to go around....add in the fact that hes had one solid year in his life and hes clearly being overpaid

Looks like a one year deal to me unless he really improves or Maclin can't cut it.

Do they keep Celek and Casey too?

Casey has to go.

Don't know what Celek's making but if it's too much I'd restructure his deal or show him the door. I'd prefer to keep him because I'm all for the veteran depth but it's not like he's irreplaceable.

i think celek is a lock to stay...a foundation of chips offensive philosophy is multiple te's they cant get rid of both....casey i guess could go he didn't do much but hes a great special teamer and maybe they think he contributes more in year two

Assuming they bring Maclin back I like this deal. Cooper is a good #3, he's big and has deceptive speed because he's white. He's a solid downfield blocker and can run almost any route.

Desean is treated like a legit #1. He might not be in the class of a Calvin Johnson but he's game planned for because of his deep speed.
Maclin is perfect for those mid ranged routes. He's probably one of the best mid range WRs (10-15 yards) in the game.
Cooper rounds them out.
It's a deep WR draft, so they can still find quality in the mid rounds.

Avant needs to be shown the door.

Assuming this site's numbers are correct, Celek is due to make over $4 million next season. No way he's worth that. The good news is the Eagles have all the levying power since he's not owed any more guaranteed money. He's almost a lock to restructure his deal. 30 year old TEs who catch 30 balls a season are a dime a dozen. They can always bring in another TE if he doesn't restructure, he's not getting $4 million per on the open market.

his catches are irrelevant....really for te's in this offense total catches is pretty meaningless....they are out there to create mismatches and make plays.....and celek was 15th in the nfl in yards per catch...

he knows the offense and four million for one year is not even close to a terrible price for him....also hes only 29....not that that matters much since he can be cut at anytime

i recognize he could be cut but i wouldn't do it...and a restructure at this point makes little sense.....hes pretty much run out of bonus money and is completely free of dead money....imo monetarily hes a safe and crispy clean keep for the team

celek turned himself into a damn fine blocker.   i'm fine with him staying.   casey needs to go especially with ertz busting out last year.

SD

There are plenty of mediocre f/a TEs who can replace him...Pettigrew/Chandler/Graham/Cumberland/Pitta...none of them will get a deal worth $4 million per or more. He's replaceable. I agree they need two TEs to run Chip's offense but I wouldn't keep him around at $4 million just because he knows the system.

I wanted Casey gone too but he only makes $700,000 or so a year. Not really going to break the cap. He's fine to keep around as a ST guy who can fill in at TE in case of an injury.

i just dont see why on earth would you go on the open market to bid against other teams for someone you are going to have to give a contract with guaranteed money and bonuses when you have your own guy locked in at a clean 4 mil with no penalty of cutting

I'm just gonna go ahead and say that I cannot believe that they extended Riley farging Cooper. There are 30 WRs in the league who are more or less identical to him. What did he have? 45 catches last year? As a starter? On a high-octane offense? farg this guy.

Yes I know I'm late to the party. Shut up.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

47 for 835 with 8 tds, the bulk of those stats coming after Foles took over. There are 30wr's in the league as good or better, at least stats wise but not many are available so that argument has no merit. Kelley says he's one of the hardest workers on the team, and they're impressed with his downfield blocking, it helped Shady a lot. Regardless of what happened at the concert, they like him. Most people who don't like him feel that way because he said the N word and it was caught on tape. No doubt rjs feels the same way.

I don't think it's as big as everyone makes it out to be. It's five years for $25 mil with only ten of that guaranteed. He's a big possession receiver good in the red zone. He was their guy and they signed him. Live with it.

Seabiscuit36

I think his signing was more about continutity than anything else.  They knew what they had last year, and didn't want to subtract from that success.  It's a two year deal on a team with a good amount of cap wiggleroom, and an expanding cap #.

I just want them to sign a beast DE/OLB

Dropping the n bomb certainly didn't endear me to him, but his teammates let it go so I'm not going to cling to it like some martyr for the cause. I just think he's as average as a WR gets and don't understand for an instant why they would give him any sort contract above the league average for 3rd receivers.

Also, I want to shave his stupid wheat sack off of his head. Get a haircut for farg's sake you farging shteinkickin redneck.
