Ah, good correction, smeags.

Here's some info on the odds: Thirty teams have jumped to a 3-1 lead in the LCS since the best-of-seven format was introduced in 1985, and 26 have advanced to the World Series.

4/30 = 13.33%

Also, if you assume that the Phillies have a 50/50 chance of winning each game (more or less), the odds would be 12.5%.

So, it's a little better than a 10/1 shot.

If we win tonight, I think we're pulling it out.

I can't believe what little faith I have in this team today.  Even with the almighty Doc pitching.  Last night was so deflating.  Just stupid baseball on all ends.  I had visions of Werth standing on second all night.  They can sure talk a big game like Victorino and his "this is fun!" but the body language and actions on the field say "We don't really care either way."

yes, it all boils down to "wanting it more" and "fight" and "will to win."

or maybe theyre just getting beat because evidently the giants are a better team. same thing was 09 against the yankees.

not that i dont think they can pull this off, but theyve simply been beaten 3 of the last 4 and it has nothing to do with shane victorino having fun or the giants playing like kids.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Don Ho

Absolutely, we all under estimated the giants offense.  We knew this pitching staff was sick but watching them execute every time someone gets on base is very impressive. Much better team right now.

False.

3-1
1996 Atlanta Braves vs. St. Louis Cardinals
2003 Chicago Cubs vs. Florida Marlins
1985 Toronto Blue Jays vs. Kansas City Royals
1986 Boston Red Sox vs. California Angels
2004 Boston Red Sox vs. New York Yankees
2007 Cleveland Indians vs. Boston Red Sox

6 teams, out of 30=20%

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

Don Ho

Didn't the Royals overcome a 3-1 deficit against the Cardinals in the WS in 1985 as well?

You guys are working pretty hard to convince yourselves that this will happen, huh?

I was feeling horrible last night...but then I realized that this team has 3 great pitchers going and can very easily rip off a 3 game win streak

Just gotta hope to whatever god or non-god you believe in that the bats wake up

I don't think they were underestimated. That implies they are better than the fans expected. Cody Ross is not usually like this, so why in the world should fans expect him to be this hot? I think the fans gave them their just due. They are an average offense that looked pathetic most of the time against Atlanta, but for some reason in this series they are hitting well.
Calling it right on the $ since day one.
Just pointing laughing, and living it up while watching the Miami Heat stink it up.
