Trying to be optimistic.  Letting this team that so called can't play from behind right back in it and leaving Werth stranded out there is infuriating.  Tie this thing up and it's a whole new series.

i have no emotions and refuse to attach myself to things

Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Don Ho

I've been a bums fan since 1971.  The emotions run high during times like this.  11 playoff appearances in 40 years.  I've seen some real bad teams.  If this team could win one more title with this group, oh man that would be so sweet. I'll savor 2008 forever.  shtein, I'm still high from 1980.

QuoteThroughout this series, San Francisco has been highly effectively with clutch hits on two outs. Posey joined five other Giants (Pat Burrell, Freddy Sanchez, Uribe, Huff (2) and Cody Ross) who had provided two-out RBIs in the series.

Victorino described the situation as fun and exciting and he's looking forward to it.

IT'S ALL PART OF THEIR MASTER PLAN.

I just heard the clip.  What a buffoon.  Oh, so now it gets fun?

I don't understand giving Posey an outside pitch that he can take to the opposite field and I don't understand giving Uribe a soft change away after throwing him heaters.

I don't understand a lot of selections in this series. Keep throwing to Ross middle in? Ruiz for the first time I can remember is calling a bad series.
Calling it right on the $ since day one.
Just pointing laughing, and living it up while watching the Miami Heat stink it up.

Ruiz was getting shaken off a lot.

Whatever.  Halladay brings hope to last for at least one more game.

Donnellon is spot on

They won these games once. They took advantage of a little thing here, a little thing there, reversed imminent victories for the other team into series-altering losses.

Not anymore. They are that other team now. After last night's 6-5 loss to the San Francisco Giants put them in a 3-1 hole in the National League Championship Series, it's official.

Phillies run themselves into outs. They muff doubleplay ground balls, double-clutch on throws to the plate, watch third strikes pass by with runners in scoring position.

They tie the game, get a runner on second in the eighth inning with no outs last night, have their speedy shortstop at the plate, and don't bunt the runner over.

Jimmy Rollins is picked off in the second inning with his team down by a run.

Carlos Ruiz is waved around by third-base coach Sam Perlozzo and thrown out at home for the second out of a four-run fifth inning. He would have scored the inning's fifth run.

Shane Victorino double-clutches on a throw home with two outs in the fifth. Andres Torres just beats the throw for the Giants' third run.

These are the plays of the other team, the plays that haunted the Los Angeles Dodgers over the last two winters, the plays that chilled the Tampa winter of 2008.

The Phillies? They were outpitched by the Yankees last year, that's all. Runs were scored, rallies attempted, plays made. They ran into good pitching, just as they have now.

They're done tonight. Halladay doesn't pitch well against the Giants, they just have his number. I think he'll pitch fine but they'll lose like 3-1.

At the end of the day the Giants came in hungrier and the Phillies overlooked them.

ice grillin you

i dont know if its because they thought theyd roll over the giants like you are saying or if after all these years of playing to gether and being in the playoffs they just dont have that fire anymore

the phillies had no hunger...no enthusiasm...almost looked like they were going thru the motions.....which isnt gonna get it done in the playoffs...giants on the other hand looked like little kids out there

Pretty much what I am saying. The Giants are hungry, the Phillies aren't. They took the Giants for granted. That's fine in the regular season when you're playing Houston or the Pirates but in the postseason the fire needs to be lit. This team doesn't have the heart or fire to come back right now, this isn't the postseason Phils from the last 2 seasons.

wip just played the phillies broadcast of the ruiz play at the plate where victorino didnt go to second on the bad throw...mcarthy points out that rowands throw was terrible and utley should have been on second...he then waits for wheeler to comment and all wheels says is "man what an unbelievable scoop by posey"...then utley gets the single and mcarthy again says if victorino is on second he scores on that play.....back to wheels and its complete silence

SD: Please kill yourself for use of the phrase "At the end of the day."  Thanks.

IGY: Halladay is hardly a savior, but it makes a lot more sense for him to go out and dominate, to provide some false hope and a trip back to Philly.
