Don Ho

Just thinking but could you imagine if Avant had caught that ball on Sunday and than this.  My head would have exploded.  Than I thought about the Sixers.

there's a lot of possible quote mining on this one

I think he's an excellent 3rd starter.  Now will Halladay stop pitching like one?  He hasn't been an "ace" his last few starts.

Debate!

total question mark in the playoffs just for the fact that he has never been there...hes gonna get hit around imo...not so much in terms of runs but lots of hits and too many runs

lots of hits

He had me fooled.  That said, I think he was a little fatigued and the 8-day break between starts was huge.

PITTSBURGH - At about 7:42 last night, on the other side of Pennsylvania, a small restaurant filled with a group of Flyers dining out before tonight's season opener erupted when catcher Carlos Ruiz' throw hit first baseman Ryan Howard's glove to complete Roy Halladay's historic no-hitter.

"There was a group of us at dinner, and we had it on," defenseman Matt Carle said. "It was pretty sweet. I watched the first part of the game at the hotel and finished it here at dinner."

Forward Scott Hartnell was amped about Halladay's first postseason start even before the Flyers left for Pittsburgh. Hartnell was walking around the Flyers' locker room in Voorhees, N.J., saying "Go Phillies!"

Hartnell likely would have been at Citizens Bank Park if the Flyers started the season at home. Hartnell attended most of the Phillies' World Series home games last year.

"We all watched it," Claude Giroux said. "It was awesome."

"That was pretty cool," goaltender Brian Boucher said. "Roy Halladay is a machine."

He faced 28 hitters -- and threw 25 first-pitch strikes. He went to 0-and-2 on 11 hitters -- but went 2-and-0 on none. He never ran a 3-and-0 count or even a 3-and-1 count. It took him 47 pitches before he threw his 10th pitch out of the strike zone.

Well, come on, folks... It's not like this year's Reds are anything like the teams they've trotted out there prior.  Oswalt's performance against the 2010 Reds is much more telling than anything he's done before.  IGY may be a "sky is falling" guy a lot, but he has a real point this time.

That said Oswalt has really turned it on since the start of August, and I have a lot of confidence that he'll do really well.

One start in april and another in july out of context is no more or less telling than anything from 2007-2009
