theres actually a really good chance that phillies game means nothing
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

you can spin the oswalt trade as better because he's locked up for next year and they have a massive 3 headed rotation going for next year.
I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

Good point. And to my earlier point, I'm not saying the Lee trade was good, or that he wouldn't be money in the playoffs again. He went through a similar slump down the stretch last season but killed it in the playoffs. But Oswalt has been money so far. Just ran across this:

Lee struggling while Oswalt is shining

Hopefully, we can put to bed once and for all the ugly situation that was the Cliff Lee trade. No one wanted to see him go and the Phillies got absolute garbage in return. The team has been ripped since it went down.

But how is that looking now? Lee has been absolutely horrific in the month of August with a 6.35 ERA in seven starts. Today, he saw a doctor who determined that his lower back injury is muscular in nature and gave him a trigger-point injection. I have no clue what that is.

He is scheduled to start on Monday, and right now the Texas Rangers have no plans to alter their rotation. But, that could change based on how he responds to the injection.

On the other hand, Mr. Roy Oswalt has been phenomenal for the Phillies, going 4-1 with a 1.90 ERA in seven starts since the team acquired him. He had a no-hitter into the fifth inning today in a win over the Dodgers and ended up leaving after 6 1/3 and one earned run. Not too bad.

I guess we won't really know who wins in all of this until we see Oswalt's post-season performance. What Lee did last year was just filthy. Oswalt does have playoff experience from his time with the Astros, but we'll need to see him do it for Philly.

But as of right now, Ruben Amara ain't looking to bad.

Ok, here's my final Cliff Lee take.

Trading him was stupid.  Oswalt is a major upgrade to the rotation, but a downgrade from Lee.  The "$140mil cap" was total bs as a reason to trade Lee because they went over that limit with Oswalt.  Ownership/Amaro realized they farged up big time and brought in the best available pitcher even though doing so completely went against everything they said when they traded Lee.  Good on them for fixing a mistake instead of ignoring/pretending that it never happened (cough Eagles cough).

I'd still rather have Lee over Oswalt, but all in all, the Phils are in good shape with their starting pitching for the rest of this year and 2011.  That said, they really need to produce another WFC sometime in the next 14 months.

i don't know which of these three items warrants the :CF death penalty the most:

1. a "journalist" admitting he doesn't know what a medical procedure involves when a simple trip to google.com would provide that info.

2. misspelling ruben amaro's last name.

3. posting a link from garry cobb's website pertaining to phillies baseball.
