Cowherd was talking about this the other day on his morning show.  Basically the point he was making is that he thinks the Reds are "pretenders" in the NL because they beat all the bad teams but get punked by the good teams and that teams like Philly step up their play against other quality teams but are prone to slack off against the scrubs.  Seems to be exactly what we're seeing with them right now.

I'd hardly say the Phils "smoked" the Padres these last 2 games, but a W is a W.  Not going to score a ton of runs in that park so putting 3 across the plate today is kind of an offensive explosion, especially considering their ineptitude the last week or so.

as bad as the can be at times there are only 1.5 teams that scare me in the nl:

1. atl

of course....6 games at the end are gonna be godly....a 7 gamer nlcs would be epic

2. @ sf

for whatever reason the phillies cant play there. they do just fine at petco, which is equally as big, just that park gives them fits. ill take their team in a series, just hopefully the 7th game is in philly and nothing freaky happens early in the series to give them home field.

ill take sd, stl, cinci any day. no shot they beat the champs in the playoffs.
