singleton is 18 and cant play until 2016 or 2017.

not a massive loss except for the fact hes a power hitting hardcore brotha straight outta compton. that...would be nice to have.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

smeags

agreed, sounding like the phils may do well in this trade. thank you ed wade.

oh and rome, just for you buddy.

phillies will be under 500 this year...book it

QuoteIf the deal gets done, the Astros would go into the offseason with roughly $30-33 million in TOTAL obligations for payroll in 2011.  Of that, $19 million is committed to Carlos Lee.

C. Lee sucks!

MDS

ok now rosenthal says singleton is not in the deal

but it looks like vance worley is

Does Singleton have more value than Rizzotti only because he's younger and slots in better when Howard is on the decline?

Seriously asking.  His stats kind of look good.

singleton has significantly more value....but at this point even he is considered a surprise wait and see type guy as opposed to a top notch prospect like a cosart

Hearing Oswalt not a fan of Citizens Bk Pk, but he's 4-0, 2.60 ERA in 4 starts-tied with Coors for best win pct at any current park.

So we get to boo him before his first start for hating on philly earlier this week, right? Or do we wait for him to give up a hit?

ice grillin you

if they can get oswalt for any combination of players that doesnt include the names may or cosart this will be outrageous

plus the astros are paying 1/3rd of his contract, which means the claire bentz can buy at the new yacht she always wanted. that makes me feel good.

Roy Oswalt plans to accept his proposed trade to the Philadelphia Phillies, a baseball source who has spoken with Oswalt's camp told ESPN.com Thursday.

Oswalt hasn't officially waived his no-trade clause to OK the deal, the source said. But after considering his options and speaking with friends familiar with the Phillies' situation, the source said the Houston Astros right-hander is prepared to go to Philadelphia.

It was not immediately clear if the Phillies or Astros offered any financial incentives for Oswalt to drop his trade veto rights. The Astros will pay $11 million of the approximately $23 million that the 32-year-old right-hander has guaranteed through 2011, sources said.

Jerry Crasnick update:

QuoteAnthony Gose's name floating around as candidate to go to Houston in Oswalt deal. M. Bourn making $2.4M and getting more pricey

Also being reported that Anthony Gose is part of the deal, ironically to eventually replace Bourn, who is getting too pricey.

So, they could have Oswalt down the stretch and for two additional seasons for a total of $28 million?  Sold.
