god youre such a dumbass

it has nothing to do money or whining.

oswalt is a great addition to the roster for the next 2-3 years. even if he andy ashbys it hes better than blanton, kendrick and happ combined.

what it is is a pointless deal because THEY HAD CLIFF LEE AND GAVE HIM AWAY FOR NOTHING. now they trade more prospects to get a guy worse and more expensive than they guy they had.

its such horrible and incompetent management of a good, world serles-level roster. i dont know even know.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

According to Jays baseball writer Boxing Box Elliott, Phils have scouting MLB HR-leader Jose Bautista heavily and are very interested.

QuoteThe Astros would receive pitcher J.A. Happ, plus prospects. But the teams were said to be "not in total agreement" yet on the prospects.

However, one source said there was still "a large gulf" between the teams on how large a portion of the $23 million remaining on Oswalt's contract the Astros would be willing to pay.

Now that the Phillies have taken outfielder Jayson Werth off the market, they would no longer be able to clear money off their $142-million payroll to absorb the approximately $5 million that remains in Oswalt's salary for the rest of this year. So they have asked the Astros to pay a significant portion of Oswalt's money. The 32-year-old right-hander has a $16 million guarantee for next season, plus either a $2 million buyout or a $16 million option for 2012.

But there are also doubts about whether Oswalt is willing to waive his no-trade clause to approve a trade to the Phillies. Despite reports to the contrary, the Phillies have gotten no indication that the 32-year-old right-hander has dropped his request that the Phillies pick up his option for 2012. The Phillies have already balked at that demand.

You honestly believe that a 32 year old pitcher with injury history and a back that is currently in pain is going to be a great addition for 2-3 years, and on the money he'll be making? lol
I hope he stays healthy and contributes, but you're a fool if you expect that.

The rest of your post is spot on, if not obvious.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

Happ, Singleton, May and Gillies was the package mentioned on the Phils MB.

I'm no huge fan of Happ. I would prefer to keep Singleton though. He's young enough to develop and be ready when Choke's deal runs out.

And as fired up as I was to get Roy O a couple weeks ago, like I said the other day my interest has waned. I worry about his make-up and the bitchiness I've heard about. Because guys do have to be wired differently to play in the northeast. And if they're sensitive or sloppy vadges, then we've got problems.

Back issues and a whole lot of cash...risky bidness, homey.

But if he is focused and really wants to win; Halladay, Hamels and Oswalt is a goddamn solid trio.

oswalt hasnt even accepted this yet

remember cole bitched out and wah wah wah and he was the mvp in 08 and is pitching great now

we really read way too much into comments and other shtein and make asinine assumptions over minimal possible pointless non contextual remarks. im sure if oswalt gets a standing o, pitches well, goes through the august grind, talks about fishing with halladay, hell get comfortable and pitch well.

now just hope lidge doesnt ruin it. hes not fixed, he is what he is. if the cards roll out ok then he might not farg it up for everyone.

good points.  Oswalt is a huge step up from Blanton, Kendrick and Happ combined.  Bitch all you want Roy, just get us back to the WS and give us a chance to win.

Oh my lord Mr. Lidge.  I just can't see this guy pitching in a playoff atmosphere right now.  He is done.  He got luckier than crap against the Rockies on two occassions.

trevor may is a much bigger loss than singleton...singleton is the flavor of the month and a position player who doesnt really have a position....may is a potential top three rotation guy...its similar to the lee trade where jason knapp was the key piece

in fact im convinced the reason this deal heated up is because of mays 14k no bb performance earlier in the week

hes a great addition for the enxt 2-3 months....if he helps them win a world series everything after that is gravy....two much less three years from now shouldnt even be a thought in anyones mind...which is why this is all so annoying and ridiculous because they could have lee right now

Can't imagine the Phils would deal for Bautista or anyone else significant unless the Oswalt deal doesn't do through.  The blogs seem to basically say that a Phillies scout was at a bunch of recent Jays games and then assumes it was for Bautista.  I'm thinking it was for Downs.

I wanted to explode the TV last night, when the MLBTV crew was saying that if you could pick a starting pitcher for one game, there is Halladay, Lee, and everyone else.  But still, how can anyone be against Oswalt?  Sure, he wouldn't guarantee the team a playoff spot, but once they get there?  Christ.  The Phils had one pitcher last off-season worth a damn and still won the national league.  Halladay/Hamels/Oswalt matches up with any other team's best three.

33 wins still needed at minimum, boys... Keep on truckin'!

So I heard Roy Oswalt is coming to the Phillies this morning.

Who told me?  The guy (Yankees fan - spit) at the bagel shop.

Silly me... and here I thought one of my "friends" here would have texted me or called me or even e-mailed me.

iceholes.

I'm not worried about the cortisone shots.  I'm more concerned about his apparently lack of interest in coming here, but that might all have been overblown by the "unnamed sources".

The frustrating thing is they could have had Lee and avoided all this bullshtein.  Regardless, Oswalt makes this team infinitely better.

randy miller just said on wip that one of the reasons oswalt is wary of coming here is because brett myers doesnt like doobs and is trying to talk oswalt into not going to philly by saying its a bad scene

And if he ends up here, who cares about any of this? He wants to win.
