The Phils don't get to the WS last season without Amaro.

Baez sucks and Castro sucks, but it was obvious he only signed them because he was up against a set budget. Do you really think he picked those players specifically out of that crop of FAs because he liked them?

Giving Ibanez that 3rd year was bad, but people always kill teams like the Eagles for not going all in and gambling by giving the extra year or extra $. If the Phils didn't get Ibanez, it was either bringing back Burrell or getting some weak LFer in a weak LFer market.

The Lee deal was awful, but that is the only reason people are killing Amaro. They are frustrated with that deal and are just piling on with everything he's done. Amaro has been a fine GM and is every bit as good as Gillick. People killed Gillick his first few years here. Everyone talked about how Werth sucked, and how he was stupid for letting Rowand go, and how Freddy Garcia was an embarrassment. Then look what happened. At least Amaro is aggressive and doesn't sit tight. He constantly tries to improve the team unlike Ed Wade.

thats a marginal platoon player right there. on top of that he has no more power (7 hrs this year), hes slow and cant steal bases, his range sucks, his arm is average at best.

before whining like little over reactive bitches about jayson werth, point to friggin ibanez. he is terrible. and manuel is hitting him 3rd. and platooning him (seriously has that ever been done? someone isnt good enough to play against lhp but they hit in the most important spot in the order against rhp) and amaro refuses to make a move or call up hof.

They actually have the lead in the first inning. Kendrick will almost no doubt cough it right back up, but at least they're trying to give him a cushion.

Since April, he is 5-2 with a 3.64 ERA in 12 starts. As a team, the Phillies are 8-4 in those 12 starts.

I was actually coming here to post about how good he's been since that first month or so. Can't really complain when your #5 guy who we all thought had no shot of being valuable this year is putting up those kinds of numbers
