Quote1. Domonic Brown, OF, Philadelphia. Is there anything he can't do? He's destroying everything in his path in Double-A and is probably just some defensive refinements away from being big league ready. I don't think he's next off the list to the big leagues, but with Raul Ibanez providing below-average offense and defense in left, I'd have to think the Phils are looking at Brown for a second-half callup. Previous ranking: No. 7

22. Jarred Cosart, RHP, Philadelphia. One of the best fastballs of any starter in the minors, carving through the Sally League in his first full season in pro ball. Previous ranking: NR

check out the promotion on August 22....Cole Purse Day (they're calling it a "lunch bag cooler" but cmon)

ty wigginton

contract up at the end of the year, on a god awful orioles team that would give him away for a wild card prospect or two

can play 2nd and 3rd.

.266/.351/.823 this year, 13 hrs, 40 rbis

but his back is a little farged up
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

I'll throw out Jim Salisbury

QuoteThe Phils will probably look to spend what resources they have – prospects and payroll – on pitching. But if they look for a veteran bat to come off the bench, they could take a peek at Ty Wigginton, who can play the corner infield spots. Corner infield depth could interest the Phils as the trade deadline nears, especially if third baseman Placido Polanco continues to be plagued by a sore left elbow.

Ed or anyone else, any updates on how prospects who've been traded over the last 2 to 3 years have faired? I'm thinking of names like Cardenas, D'Arnaud, Marson, Drabek, Taylor, Carrasco etc.

The BIGSTUD

When things look really bad is when the Phils are at their best. This team is going to win like 10 games in a row now.
Calling it right on the $ since day one.
Just pointing laughing, and living it up while watching the Miami Heat stink it up.

PhillyPhreak54

Cardenas has been very slow to even show any promise in oakland, he's at AAA i think hitting in the .220s
Drabek is still pitching in AA, he's been average this year
Carrasco has be ok, in AAA cleveland, with a +4 ERA he's not doing anything special
I think Marson has been hurt
D'Arnaud is still in high A ball and there's no use even speculating on his progress, but so far so good.

Taylor may be the most disappointing since he left considering he was "supposed" to be up this year and he's just been about average in AAA.

drabek has taken a step backwards this year but still projects to be a good middle of the rotation prospect

michael taylors time is running out...hes already 25 and isnt have a great year...still has a chance to be a fourth outfielder type but he better shorten his swing

darnaud will be a major league catcher

the rest stink

I just checked and there isn't a less interesting discussion going on anywhere on the internet.

Well done.
