Or a Raul Ibanez execution

SunMo

I don't know why they bothered to move him. I'd rather have him face kyle drabek types in AA than nelson figueroa types in AAA.
I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

AAA has better players; AA better prospects

they want him to face more major league ready pitching as a final insurance that hes ready for the show

if hes getting called up that means raul is getting permanently benched or dfa'ed. once you go down that road there aint no turnin back
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

if a psycho like brett myers can be sent to the minors come back and win a world series im pretty sure arguably the best guy in the major leagues can sit on the bench for a while

i want hof brown here as much as the next guy, all im saying is once you make this move there is no turning back. if for whatever reason he struggles you cant start platooning or whatever. you either go big or go home with this. though brown really doesnt have much to live up to, he would hit 7th and would need to hit around .230 or .240 to essentially match ibanez's production.

Barring an injury I think they stick it out with Brown this season, let Werth walk and make him the new RF. Sucks because if it weren't for Raul Brown could be in the majors already, there would have been money to keep Lee, and they probably could re-sign Werth this offseason having a Brown/Vic/Werth outfield.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

i dont see any scenario where they would have/could have kept both werth and lee long term...and im not even sure you would want to do that with the smallish window this team has

imo what they should have done is this

2010
suck it up for one year pay lee his nine mil and make a monster run with halladay and lee

2011
suck it up for one year pay ibanez his nine mil while resigning werth and playing HOF brown

after that all bets are off in terms of their window being open or not...this team was is and will always be about the above two years and they should have and still should go all out in both of those to win

I'm not talking long term on Lee, what I'm saying is if they would have signed a different LF last season on the cheap and for a 1 year deal (there were plenty out there) they could have had the money THIS season to keep Lee, then re-signed Werth and had Brown as their starting LF/RF this season. The Ibanez 3 year deal was awful on so many levels. Age, years of the deal, other players were signed to 1 year deals and were cheaper, they had to sacrifice a 1st round pick etc.

ice grillin you

dont get me wrong the ibanez deal was bad...but in terms fo keeping lee (for this year) i think the ibanez deal is so overblown...they needed nine million to keep lee...theres just no way im gonna believe that any one contract kept them from keeping a pitcher of that quality for ONE season at any price...

anway the decision on lee is much bigger than raul ibanez...its an organinational defect not a general managerial one
