I have to agree with Igy - they're pretty much unwatchable right now.  Turned it off in the 6th to get some schoolwork done.

farging terrible.

Where's that great offense at?

QuoteThe Phils have gone scoreless in 37 of their last 38 innings.

It marked the first time the Phillies were shut out in consecutive games since Aug. 7-8, 2008. And it marked the first time the Phillies have been shut out by the same team in two straight games since Arizona did it on Sept. 11-12, 1999.

Incredibly, opposing starters have thrown 28 straight scoreless innings against the Phillies during the four-game losing streak. And it's not as if the Phils have faced aces: Daisuke Matsuzaka, Tim Wakefield , R.A. Dickey and now Hisanori Takahashi have shut down the offense.

Look at that list of Cy Young candidates who have worked this offense over.

well this was bad

only shining light is the bats are due?

not that it mattered but terrible decision by perlozzo to not send victorino on utleys single in the 6th. instead its 1st and 3rd with 1 out for choke vs. a lefty

dont have to be igy-level smart to know what the result was gonna be
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Don Ho

One more game like this and the bitch train is ready for boarding.  This is just atrocious right now.

they definitely look like shtein...no doubt.  but it's a slump, they happen.  they'll be putting up 8 runs a game again in no time.
I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

QuoteManuel's anti-meeting remarks before last night's game reminded me of Larry Bowa's anti-meeting remarks before a game in Montreal on Aug. 28, 2003. The Phillies had lost eight of nine games, but Bowa said he absolutely had no plans to hold a meeting. Then the Phillies lost 4-0 to the Expos and he blew up. I mean blew up. Brett Myers got into it with Joe Kerrigan and everything. Crazy times.

The Phillies held a player-only meeting on the bus to the Montreal airport and the next night Pat Burrell snubbed Bowa after hitting a home run at Shea Stadium. Tyler Houston, who was the best pinch-hitter in the NL at the time, took the fall and was gone the next day.

Last night's meeting was relatively short and sweet. From what I gather, Manuel did not raise his voice much, if at all. He said a few things and everybody went about their business.

risky having a meeting last night...this is like his fourth such meeting over the last three years...they have all worked thus far...but if they lose tonight after the meeting the ship could sink

on the other hand its a great test for heidi...tonights start will go a long way towards him being back if he comes out and dominates the mets...but if he comes up short again and they get swept by the new york after the meeting and with a supposed big time starter on the mound then it could be serious trouble

Yes, the ship could sink because, you know, it's still May and all.
