Tough to get excited for this trade either way.  Clemons has done all of nothing for the Eagles and was very likely to get cut if they brought in a high pick at DE.  So basically they give up a 4th for this guy.  Whatever

The team is clearly not bringing this guy in to be a sack machine. I mean, that just isn't this dude's game. He get's pressure, great. But I can't imagine that he's anything other than a 270 pound Brandon Whiting type who will show some size and some ability to apply pressure.

He's young and he isn't Chris Clemons. Lock.

i like him because he has a name that makes me think of beer
I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

PhillyPhreak54

Yay?

Lateral move for now....but unlike Clemons, whose upside was nil, Tapp still has a shot.

The BIGSTUD

The best thing about this deal is that Howie Roseman's seasoned eye for talent really thinks he's an up and comer in the NFL.

Now we can all sleep at night.
Calling it right on the $ since day one.
Just pointing laughing, and living it up while watching the Miami Heat stink it up.

We all saw basically the same thing with Derrick Burgess. 8.5 sacks over the first 3 years then 35 over the next 3, with 16 the following year.

tapp is garbage and all you're doing in this thread is whipping yourself off.

tapp is garbage

no clemons was garbage...clemons played 200 snaps last year tapp played 700....clemons literally cant get on the field for a team that is desperate for qb pressure and has juqua parker playing one end

not saying tapp is a beast or anything but he was definitely worth a 4th round pick...and like someone else said getting rid of clemons is a great thing

Zanshin

Not sure what the whining is about. Clemons is a glorified linebacker, and this guy is a prototypical DE.

I don't think even the Eagles think he'll be a worldbeater-- they obviously didn't trade for this guy to be a pass rushing specialist. They've got those guys, which is why Clemons was completely expendable....meaning there was a good chance he wasn't making the team anyway. So, basically, they traded a 4th round pick for general purpose, NFL-ready DE with some upside. This guy could be even worse than advertised and STILL be infinitely more productive than an average 4th rounder.

Hard to get really excited about it either way, but it's also hard to kill the move.

PhillyPhreak54

Rome is salty about a move?

I'm shocked!

so you missed this comment from roseman which was posted in this thread ?

this move really does nothing for me one way or the other. i still think if the eagles are going to make any big moves it will be on draft day.
