curious - what do you think will happen to clemmens & do you feel it's worth our tax dollars to pursue such a horrible criminal ?

I think he'll be found guilty (or will eventually take a deal) and will get nearly bare minimum sentencing.

As for it being worth our tax dollars.....that's pretty subjective because not everyone in the country is a sports fan.  But sports, especially baseball, play a major role in our society and I think that the government should have more than just a passing interest in what the players and leagues are doing.

i agree and you know there will be some very strong opinions against it considering the condition this country is in. on clemens himself, why doesn't he just admit it ? i mean he is heading for pete rose territory as far as denial goes.

Funny you mention that because Pete Rose recently told Clemens that he wish he had come clean back in 1989.  In other words, Rose to Clemens that everyone knows he took roids and to fess up.

smeags

yeah, too bad rose like clemens, thought he was bigger than the game.

I will always argue on behalf of Pete Rose to get into the HOF though for the simple fact that he was caught gambling when he was a manager, not a player.  On the field, Rose played the game as right as anyone has ever played and his accomplishments are as legit as can be.  You can still ban him from working in baseball but you shouldn't ban his accomplishments as a player.

Rose may not have admitted to betting as a player, but Dowd's investigation said he did.

I believe there was question on if he bet on baseball in 85 when he a player/manger. Either way rose should've come clean. He was his own worst enemy. Still, he should be in the hall of fame.

Yep.

Its a damn shame that Pete isn't in there.

Clemens is a first class prick who thought he could charm/buy off everyone into believing he was clean. But his boy Pettitte threw his ass right under the bus.

So what's the deal with Cliff Lee and why has he been off in Texas?

Cowherd floated the theory, based on a source he said, that Lee hates it in Texas and cannot wait to get the hell outta there and go to NY.

maybe playing on his 300th team in the past year has taken its toll
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Not so much that he hates it in Texas, but Cliff Lee has never pitched well in Texas.  Not to mention that the Yankees were originally the front runners to get Lee this year and Lee was pretty much packing his crap to head to the Bronx and then Texas came in at the last minute and outbid NY.
