bryce harper is 17 hes at least two years away from the bigs and thats if he murders the minor leagues in a way almost no one ever has

id be shocked if he in the majors before hes 20 and that might be pushing it...realistically id say 2014...as a full timer of course to the popint where hed be drawing fans...he might be up for an expanded roster season before then
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

igy gettin it done like warrick

im the board pharmacist....always one step above yous

DH

$20 he plays at some point in 11'?

ice grillin you

no cause theres an outside chance he comes up with exanded rosters...i was talking in terms of him drawing fans to the park

that wont be for a couple years at the earliest

phattymatty

if he comes up for only one game next year it will be the only sellout of the year after opening day.

DH

I can see him coming up in June/July, like when Strasberg did. If he's lighting up AAA and they're 25 games under, what's to lose? He'll play in the bigs in 11'.

best sports news in a long long time

lol at the lil guy for just picking him up in fantasy

it was a pure desperation move since my team is collapsing worse than the phillies right now

but who cares. this is amazing news and i could not be happier.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

yeah but no one is buying season tickets because of bryce harper next year like they would have for strasberg...and once harper plays one game the hype ends...its not like a lights out pitcher who gos once every five days where it becomes an event...for people to come see a batter the team has to be good

place will be a ghost town next year no matter what...with strasberg in for a full year some offseason promotion and a couple other moves the nats would have had some consistent crowds for the first time ever and in general interest would have been substantially up

hell just having strasberg as your ace next year makes them a legitimate team which draws more people

plus its much easier for a pitcher to come in and succeed at a young age...only position player i can ever remember coming up at 18 was a rod and he struggled his first two years up

i think harper is going to have a much longer learning curve in the minors than dh does...his competition in college was awful...time will tell but my money is on him struggling quite a bit in the minors

so the moral of the story is the nats are going to be in last place again

thanks for the heads up

Can't Strasberg just pitch with the other hand?

DH

Who was the pitcher who actually did that in-game? Gene Harris?

Not sure if it's been done in the big leagues, but there was a minor league pitcher a few years ago who could pitch with both arms.
