The new standardized Super Bowl logo, starting next season:

It'll look the same every year except for the Roman numerals and the stadium in the background.

They're also changing those brown-base conference championship trophies to something resembling a silver football, and the postseason logos are changing too...

look at 'north texas' trying to be the new 'south florida'

best to just accept it
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

BigEd76

what, I figured it was time for a new topic for next year since this one's done

MDS

easy thats more than enough information on superbowl colors and conference championship games symbols than anyone ever needs to know

but you are easy and i love you dont ever forget that

I figured they did that for political reasons: the stadium is 25 miles away from Dallas, and if they put "Arlington" down there, it'd be some kind of admission that the Cowboys aren't really a Dallas team. Besides, I'm sure the Super Bowl was sold to the area as something that would help the economy of all of North Texas, and this way no one bitches about being left out.

NFLPA Exec Director DeMaurice Smith on chances of a 2011 lockout: "On a scale of 1 to 10, it's a 14."

good to hear things are progressing in the right direction

hyperbolic rhetoric more than a year out is definitely meaningful

hey they already had 11 sessions that went absolutely nowhere. Now you have Smith who is pretty adamant that if they dont get a deal done by march 5th, you have an uncapped year (which we are all aware of), and the players association will not go back to a salary capped system the following.

this is stemming from the fact that the nfl just signed a 2-year extension with tv partners that will give them a guaranteed $5 billion dollars no matter if games are played or not...and now the nfl is trying to reduce players salaries from 60% to 41% equals a hot friggin mess

I agree Igy, same rhetoric as in '06. Each side is all doom and gloom, pointing the finger at the other, as if the other side will really believe they better give in or the party's over for everybody. A lot of it is just posturing for their people. It will likely go down to zero hour, maybe with a couple of emergency extensions, before they get a new CBA done, and probably it's the union that will give in more at the end. It is possible however that they won't reinstate the cap, but I think it's unlikely.

"North Texas" is about a million times better than "Dallas"

Smith and Goodell are both full of shtein.

Posturing by both sides. I hope somehow the owners are forced to open their books. If they are going to cry poor and demand a reduction in player salaries, they better show why they want it. The league is raking money in. There's no reason, even with huge debt amounts, these billionaires should be barely scraping by.

However, I also hope this uncapped windfall of cash these spoiled brats are looking for never comes. They all think that the coffers will be opened up with unprecedented money, but I doubt that happens.

Way to farg up a good thing, NFL owners and players.
