I question whether they have enough depth at cornerback, but who am I to doubt Howie Roseman?

I like this trade. And I actually don't think the Eagles team is all that much different right now than it was at the end of the season. Even if McNabb goes most of the starters are still in place and most of the old vet backups they cut were straight garbage anyway so farg'em. Howard and Brown will be missed but were getting older. I'm remarkably unmoved by all of this.

People are just up in arms about the Brown trade because he's been here a while and was a fan favorite. The other guys - aside from Westbrook but we know why he's gone - were expendable and I don't really blame the Eagles for cutting them.

Obviously, and obviously the answer is no, they don't. But I would say that we were just given a guarantee that we'll see a high pick used on the secondary.

So a CB, a linebacker, and a safety should all be drafted in a few days. No doubt they'll come away with a guard/tackle project or two, an end, a TE, an undersized fourth round backer, a RB and a punter. Good times.

Personally, my view on the trade is that it is a not a big deal. For one: You clowns who are upset are laughable. Do you not expect this from this team? It is par for the course. Second, the same logic hold true if you believe they should move McNabb when it came to Sheldon: They aren't going to win a championship in the next three years, they obviously believe that. Trade aways guys who can help you stockpile picks so that you have better odds of adding guys who will be around for the next run. Can't really fault them for that.

In summary, people need to come to the realization that this team is in full on "retooling" mode. I'm excited to watch a lot of new, young players run around.

CB, LB and S are obviously very high on the needs list but I would OL as well. No way they should use a pick on a TE. Backup TEs are what the undrafted rookie market was made for.

Trent Cole will be 28 this season. If they're not going to win anything for three years, why not trade him now instead of two years from now? They could get a first rounder for him.

not sure exactly what trent cole's salary is, but i'm sure it's not more than that of a 1st round pick.....at least, when comparing guaranteed money.

Desean Jackson will be 30 some day.

If they want to rebuild that is fine, but they got bad value for Sheldon Brown, and they just created another need on defense by trading him. Which means one of corner/linebacker/safety/defensive end won't be adequately addressed. I'm guessing linebacker as usual.
Calling it right on the $ since day one.

CB is probably a lock to be the first pick now.

A trade up for Joe Haden...Kyle Wilson....Devin McCourty

Goodbye hopes of drafting Weatherspoon...

The BIGSTUD

Yep. It sucks. Even though they are good corners and would be good additions, we didn't need one two days ago.

Although it should still be addressed, Id be surprised if they went CB first pick with a young Hobbs right there. Hes not dominating, but not a bad corner at all. Hes a legit starter, and did not just come in for kickoff duties.

Another year in the system this year...I think he'll be fine.

my hatred of this front office continues to grow every farging day.  for 10 years, we've been watching a team get about as close to a championship as possible without actually winning (buffalo bills excluded).  and there's really only been 1 off season (2004) where they legitimately tried to improve the team as a whole.

every other year, they get rid of quality players in exchange for younger, less proven players or draft picks which are a total crap shoot.

is getting rid of sheldon brown a smart business decision?  probably.  is it a smart football decision?  no.  cb was the only part of this defense that wasn't a concern.  business decisions ALWAYS take precedence with this team over football.  it's the same shtein year after year with these farging clowns.

and now there's another need to be addressed in the draft, as if this team didn't have enough of them already.

funny thing is, out of all the players they've let go over the years, this one probably makes the most sense.  but that's hardly a consolation, nor does it change the fact that they simply don't care about their players and they especially don't care about winning a championship.

The BIGSTUD

You like Hobbs? He was mediocre in NE and he was pretty bad here as a corner and then he had an injury that was career threatening. Who knows how he'll play in 2010?

They are going CB in the first round and once again we will have to watch the worst linebackers in the NFL.
