i don't see the eagles making a move on any RFA's.
This..  They value draft picks too much.

Also saw Mayock talking about the draft schedule now, and how teams like the Pats/Eagles who historically do well in the later rounds are not happy with the 3 day format, since it will leave more time for other teams to do their homework.  It very well may make all later picks worth less than they were before.

On the other hand, they gave up an first and a fourth + for Peters last year. Certain positions they place a premium on and DE is one of them (QB, OT, DE,CB). I'm just not sure Edwards is worth a first. It comes down to if you want more of a known commodity, or more of a risk with a higher upside (and also the risk you won't be able to get someone you particularly want in the draft). The move wouldn't surprise me at all if the Eagles think Edwards is a really solid DE.

yeah but peters was a trade and is more of an exception. don't know who they have made such a move on (RFA) and given up picks. they may have but i just cant think of who.

plus i am more focusing on this year. i just don't see them doing that, if anything they are looking to get additional picks.

I can't think of any RFAs they've signed either and it's been uncommon around the league in general. But this year is different with no cap - one disincentive had usually been needing to give up picks, then in addition awarding a fat new contract. With no cap, some teams might not baulk so much, especially the final 8 teams who are limited in the FA market and could turn to RFAs. Another factor is the huge increase in the numbers of RFAs this year.

I don't have a sense of how it will pan out but I can see a number of reasons that signing RFAs are more attractive now than before. For the Eagles, they have so many holes to fill among the starters (LB,S,DE, and maybe a good G/C) I can also see wanting a vet who they know can come in right away as a starter rather than an unproven draft pick.

conventional wisdom would make one think that as far as bringing in a vet but this is the eagles and they always have to prove to the world that they are smarter then everyone else.

The Eagles couldn't come to terms with Fargas and left without a deal. Most likely one won't be reached according to the latest reports. Oh well. He would have been a solid addition. I guess they'll just go to the next cheapest option.
Calling it right on the $ since day one.

Did you even bother to read the rest of the thread or did you just post because eh, you felt like it?

Don Ho

QuoteFargas wouldn't have been heavily involved in the ballcarrying rotation with McCoy and fullback Leonard Weaver in tow, but he would have been a change of pace from both tailbacks.

He would have been a nice addition but once again he'd be playing second fiddle to two other guys.  He's always been solid in that shtein hole of Oakland.

haha, called up a local Acme to see if they had something I was looking for and they told me that they are having Jamaal Jackson in today to sign autographs and play with the kids.

Interesting to see how they address this position. Jackson clearly wont be ready for the start of the season

I thought they were going to scoop up that bowling ball Fraley, but Reid is probably creaming himself now with thought of taking a projected 3rd rd center in the 1st

I have horrid memories of Fraley getting mugged by just about any nose he faced. If I remember correctly, teams would just start stacking any tackle on top of him, and he'd usually get moved into the backfield.

couldnt agree with that assessment any more. jamaal jackson is a slight upgrade to fraley and I actually look forward to his replacement

QuoteHank Fraley could soon visit the Chiefs
Posted by Mike Florio on March 13, 2010 1:01 PM ET
After unexpectedly getting cut by the Browns, veteran safety Hank Fraley is looking for a new team.

His agent, Ralph Cindrich, says that Fraley could visit the Chiefs on Tuesday, if a deal isn't completed soon with the Rams.

Fraley visited the Rams earlier in the week.

The Steelers also have expressed an interest in Fraley, but no visit has been arranged.
