So you had lobster & filet mignon then went to the Wach, tailgated before the game, then saw them beat Montreal 6-0?

Tell me, what time is Jessica Alba coming over to finish the night off for you?

 :-D

I'm sauced too

Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Let's not go all gooey over Leighton just yet. Remember, Boucher had a run in 2000 that made us all squishy in the pants for a stop to the goalie carousel too. Dude is playing well and making it look easy, but I'm not ready to hold his dick while he pisses just yet.

As for the Pronger trade, well, this is the time of year that the trade was made for and holy jesus is it working out. Mind you, they needed some luck just to get into the post season and if they don't win the cup and continue to be mediocre for the next few regular seasons it won't exactly look like a stroke of genius, but he is by far the best player on this team right now.

Leighton played well all season, rjs...not sure what you're getting at....

What I'm getting at is the fact that he's a 29 year old rookie who was third on the depth chart for most of the year and is only playing because Brian Boucher is hurt. SD suggested locking him up long term and I'm suggesting that it might be just a tad early to make that call. He had a nice W/L record this year but his save % was like .905. Not exactly hall of fame stuff. Everyone just settle down and enjoy the run. Let's not go smooching his beanbag just yet.

i'm not even sure he's a rookie, he's a guy that has been put on waivers numerous times.  it would be typically flyers to think he's a long term solution

Ha, good call.

For reference, he has a 34-40 career record with a save % of .902.

Prior to re-joining (huh?) philly this year he was 18-35 for his career.

LONG TERM CONTRACT!

Now, if he wins a cup, they can sign him to a lifetime contract and I won't give a shtein. In fact, I'll hold his hand and whisper sweet nothings in his ear while he signs it. BUt short of that, I don't really think I'm ready to hand over the keys to the franchise.

yeah, i just don't want them to jump the gun like they always do (see:  boucher, esche, nittymaki, etc...)  i know that the new flyers goalie coach was worked with him and refined some of his previous issues, so maybe he can sustain this going forward, but he needs to prove it over a bigger sample size.

his numbers were skewed from a few starts with a very zesty Carolina team, but i'm not sure he's the the Long term answer.  At teh same time he was the top ranked goalie in the AHL for years, and never got his shot with Cam Ward getting his run going.  I still would love to see if they could pry Price away from the Habs, but Leighton is about as good as there is coming off the market next season.  Look at him like Colorado looked at Craig Anderson.

Going back to that Pronger trade, like we all said, they gave up a shtein ton, and he was brought here for one reason.  Now you see why his value was so high, though Holmgren definitely overpaid, he eats 30 minutes a night, and allows them to roll him and Kimmo out there for more than 50% of the game.  Coburn also found his game again finally after sucking ass all year.
