Speaking of it's on like donkey kong...

Quote"It's easy to hate the Flyers," said Gill, a former Pittsburgh Penguin who lived through the intense cross-state rivalry in the playoffs the last two seasons. "They've been the Broad Street Bullies, their fans are loud and obnoxious.

"If you're from Philly that's great, if you're not you hate them. It's fun to hate the Flyers, just like it's fun for them to hate our fans and our team. It should be a good series as far as hate goes."

Haha... no chance that gets posted in the locker room.

and this is why you need to live in philly

being in town when something like this goes down cant be described. it doesnt have the same effect perched from your comfortable mid florida klan house, your delaware trailer park or even your upper middle class maryland suburb. gotta be in philly. damnit texas.

I don't know why but this made me laugh

Cringe is the word you were looking for there.

coming from someone who maybe goes to philly once a decade

you just dont get it and never will. there is nothing more to say.

how does something like this not make you miss philly? wish you were there? wheres your identity at gramps
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Jealous that you aren't in Philly to celebrate the Flyers going to the ECF and you don't even like hockey.  There really is something wrong with you.  And the funniest part of the whole thing is that the Flyers still haven't won ish yet.

MDS

not about "celebrating," its about the feel and vibe of the city. the mood. only something like  that unifies the entire city, like sports or barry winning in 08 can do that. you dont get that shtein a lot, so when it goes down, theres not like being in philly for it.

most of you older gentleman are so far removed from your philly days, or never really had them to begin with, so it doesnt sink in or hit you.

being away from philly (and more specifically sea isle where i grew up) only makes my visits back there more enjoyable.  of course i miss living there and i miss my friends and family as well.  i understood that part of your retarded rant and agreed with its sentiments.

what i was mocking was your continued ridiculous MA slams at the places we've all chosen to live.  you chose to live in a shteinhole in texas to advance the laughable career path you've selected and that's great.  many of us did the same thing.  that doesn't make us miss the place we were born and raised any less.

one thing i don't miss about philly is arrogant know-it-all chest-thumping philly dickheads like you.  whenever people say to me that philly guys are iceholes i can honestly say that i agree with them, because on the whole most philly people are just like you, mds.  and not in a good way either.

MDS

haha you are again taking me wayyyyyy too seriously

Holy shtein, that post-game concourse crowd reaction was chill-inducing. Very similar to Game 6 vs. Tampa in 06...I still cant believe it.

I definitely would miss Philly if I moved away for big sports moments. There's nothing like a big playoff win and when you step outside everyone is going crazy. Car horns honking for miles, people running up and down the streets, sirens going off for jackasses getting arrested. You hear screams echoing in the distance.

Then the next day everyone is in a good mood during the work day.
Calling it right on the $ since day one.
Just pointing laughing, and living it up while watching the Miami Heat stink it up.

You can still experience those things when your adopted city wins big. You just aren't a part of them, which turns them from being awesome into being horrible. I've been living in Pissburgh for 5 years and have had to endure three insufferable championships -- cars honking, fireworks, drunk people going nuts. farging sucks. Especially the Penguins. I also was living in the Detroit area when the Pistons won with Larry Brown.

I do try to get back to Philly when Philly teams make it to championships, because that atmosphere really is one of the things you miss the most when you move away. A board like this helps us out-of-towners reconnect with that a little. I couldn't get back in town for the Phillies WS win, so I still haven't been in the city for a victory. And I see I have a business trip I'm supposed to go on around the end of the Stanley Cup Finals... :boom
