A 3rd-string goalie making his NHL debut and they score 1 goal against him.  28-28 now...

it seems a lot of you, mainly easy, are angry and disappointed over a team no one things is any good.

discuss.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Everyone associated with hockey sees this team as underachieving...they should be better than this and they're not.

Interesting stat-After the top 4 teams in the conference (Washington, NJ, Buffalo, and Pit), the Flyers are the only other team in the eastern conference that have scored more goals than they've allowed. WTF.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

After getting Pronger, they should've been competing with Washington, NJ and Pittsburgh, not Florida and the Islanders...

jesus stop it....NO

this is the problem with homers...they get all excited because of one player being acquired and cant see the teams other huge issues...like goaltending and especially scoring

and pronger while still very good is not the norris trophy league mvp team saving guy he was ten years ago

i said back in teh summer i didnt think he put them over the top, since Emery was an unknown.  Emery has been good, but he's hurt again.  The offense has been worse than expected, Hartnell/Briere/Gagne are albatrosses moneywise and arent producing.  All 3 need to be moved.  This team has no draft picks for this year, and very likely will continue to age and get worse over the next 5 years.  Meanwhile, the devils/rangers/toronto/Pens all improve thru the draft(the Rags the least) and all have made significant moves recently.  Flyers are the taterskins of Hockey

i guess in a way you might as well suck now because they whole conference should just bow down to the caps...they are simply unbeatable and will be for a long time with their talent both on the team and coming up

altho it would be nice to suck AND have draft picks...basically theres little to no hope

They are nowhere near as bad as you're constantly telling us.

Seabiscuit36

the problem is they play with no heart or emotion.  Look at the caps play, they have fun.  The flyers are going thru motions, and that shtein doesnt sell.

they are a borderline playoff team....which isnt hideous except when you compare it what people like you were predicting before the season which was stanley cup contender

the fun part is the end result of winning which is a result of having the best talent in the nhl...the flyers will start having fun when they get some real players and not hardworking muckers from canada and north jersey who cant score unless they are standing still at the edge of the crease

like goaltending and especially scoring

Even with Emery being hurt half the year they've still only allowed the 4th most goals in the conference.

The goaltending and defense has been overall solid, but after Richards and Carter they've got no one scoring. Giroux and JVR are young and have promise but as SB pointed out, they're getting nothing from the other "top" veteran forwards.

JVR beats Marty....then Carter buries a pass from Hartnell in a 2 on 1.
