igy - while i agree the flyers have failed on the goalie situation for years i will ride it out with leighton. we have no choice otherwise.

nice comeback win last night. if this team can keep it up we could have a chance to open the playoffs at home. won't be easy though.

he blows and i would be mildly suprised if they make the playoffs with him and absolutely shocked if they won a round

you know how many awful goalies have come thru the nhl and had a mini streak of good stats...much less a fluke season

hes not their biggest problem in that he isnt really a problem at all because he wont be on the team next year and there is no hope to win anything of significance with him...therefore their biggest problem remains their offense which even with a legit goalie isnt good enough

LOL, 15-3 and he blows.  He's ranked 5th in GAA and 6th in Save percentage since the pickup.  Not to mention he was considered the top goalie prospect in the minors along with Halak for years.  He's 28 and now has the chance, is he the answer, i dont think so, but i'm hopeful that he can be.  He's a big goalie who makes the big save, and the small ones.  His stop on Prongers turnover right in front of the net was easily the save of the game.  But he stinks right. 

Dook had 98 saves in one game in the AHL playoffs.  Give him a chance, or would you rather have Dwane Roloson?  You arent gettin Luongo, you're not getting anyone that good, so either develop a good young guy like Eriksson, or trade for a guy like Vokun who the asking price is astronomical.  They need to develop a guy, but great goalies are tougher to come by than anything else.

roman cechmanek had a good 20 game stretch once....brian boucher had a five game scorless streak...robert esche was HOT one january february

and those are just ex flyer goalies

like u said igy, the offense is the real issue, so focus on that please.

The offense just doesn't have a superstar to drive it. It has great complementary pieces and that's it. That, plus three decades of turmoil at the goalie position and they aren't in a position to be taken seriously as contenders.

exactly - they have actually been run much like the eagles in that they have kept the team competitive but havent made the moves to put them over the top. since the 70's.
