Mad-Lad

After watching Demps and his Downy soft tackling during the preseason, I'm not surprised.

Was Jones ever an option at FS?  I thought he was strictly a SS.

The BIGSTUD

Anyone willing to at least wait and see how he plays, and Dawk does for that matter before killing this move? If it turns out bad, kill it then.
Calling it right on the $ since day one.
Just pointing laughing, and living it up while watching the Miami Heat stink it up.

Rome

The Eagles definitely should have signed Dawkins no matter how awful he looked against the pass last year.

mussa

Demps sucks. Not surprised at all by this move.

this isnt a "move"....this just happened because their is no one better on the roster to play the position....you think macho harris was some sort of master plan...

No I don't. Regardless of how you want to label it, the question still remains the same. Can't you give it a shot to see how it works before burying Harris at safety?

If he sucks, then ok. What if he turns out to be a stud?

Point is, the Eagles should have waited to see if they had ANYONE else capable of playing the position before they decided to throw Dawk to the scrap heap.

I don't agree with that. Six months is a long enough period of time to find and sign a player capable of starting in the NFL, at any position. And for all we know, they have.

If they failed at doing that, the problem wasn't necessarily getting rid of Dawkins, it was doing a zesty job of trying to get someone to replace him.

even if they had dawks replacement which they didnt....they should have signed him and let him tutor the young guys while sharing time with them if he couldnt perform full time

you cant put a price on that especially a few million bucks...the bottom line remains the same there is not a single reason he shouldnt be on the team right now...macho harris just makes it look even worse

Letting of Dawkins cause they think he lost it is one thing. To automatically promote a rookie who barely saw the field outside of special teams simply because the philosophy dictates they start him is what pisses me off. They did not even try to find someone better in the off-season (a player from the Browns does not count) and simply assumed Demps must be ready since he was selected by them. See also Gocong and countless others.
