So, over/under on headlines saying the Eagles are in the dog house for giving Vick a new deal? I'd set it at all of them.

I met a black kid--maybe seven years old--in a park today who told me Vick was his favorite player.  After him, it was Ray Lewis and Ray Rice.

Nice thing about this deal is they can now use the Franchise tag on Desean if they have to.

i think siging vick is almost a franchise tag in itself....im not saying they wouldnt have signed him otherwise because they clearly wanted him but i think what put the money where it ended up was banner inc watching this offseason unfold and seeing how many players either signed with the eagles or showed interest in signing with the eagles because they wanted to play with mike....not that andy doesnt like him as a player but this signing was a recruiting tool and was done as much for off the field stuff as on the field

Agree. His value to the franchise in publicity/jerseys/luxury box seats is just as important as all of that too. Vick means big money, so he gets big money - even though they aren't stupid and know his play on the field won't always be remarkable. Great signing for all involved for many reasons.

It's not a great signing if you don't think Vick is all that good. Which I don't... but I also don't know if there is a better available option right now. I'm not rooting against him, I don't hate him or any of that nonsense, I would have waited until later in the season to do this.

Vick has done a great job in rehabilitating his reputation, both as a player and as a person.  He was going to get this much, if not more if he hits the open market.

Not sure what I think about his signing, mainly because of his age and being a bit injury-prone.  Poor guy is going to be hit more than Lindsay Lohan.

The self-appointed Philly hack doomsayers are strongly cautioning all of us today.

Smallwood was particularly annoying so I let him have it.  Surprisingly, he replied.  Sheridan, on the other hand, he doesn't get so much as a pfft from me.

why are they hacks because they say the eagles are taking a chance...its a huge risk...mostly from an injury standpoint but also because vick has played about a half great season of good football in his life...admittedly that half season was last year but hes never won a playoff game with the eagles and hes a tiny qb who is playing behind a hideous line

i dont care about the money because nfl is mostly monopoly money....in fact i love the money for the fact that is has enraged the haters today but in terms of going all in with this guy as your qb for the next four years at that money how can you not see some people being wary of the move

Signing anyone is taking a chance.  The reasons why it's a huge chance is why I have a problem with what they've written.  They raged against it initially, were proven wrong, but they're too pigheaded to change now, so they bring up the dogs and prison.

They're lazy defeatist pieces of shtein.

farg all of them.

Losing a superbowl is a realistic goal.
