Well, it's nice to know that Vick's agent has good manners.

Vick says in an upcoming GQ article that he wanted to go to Cincinannti or Buffalo and start right away but Goodell persuaded him to go to the Eagles because of the stability and low pressure to start.

I don't understand Cincinnati. Were they going to cut loose Palmer two years ago?

he didnt specifically say he wanted to start he said he didnt wanna be third string in philly and that he thought cincy was a better opportunity

I like that he's saying it now. All's well that ends well.

it's great for us...but really should the NFL commissioner be involved where player movement?  i know it's a special circumstance, but still, either vick was eligible to come back or not, and if he was then he should have been able to pick any team he wanted and it was up to him to sink or swim

Yeah, it sounds like Godell pretty much told Vick it was Philly or nowhere.

General_Failure

That's really strange. All the things I hear about Goodell don't paint him as a controlling little douche.

The man. The myth. The legend.

I'm not from Philly but some say I'm blunt.

it's the same thing with Pryor, how can they make him eligible for the supplemental draft but then say he's to be suspended for the first 5 weeks?  how can you suspend someone for something they did in college?

QuoteWe can be repulsed by his past, we can choose not to root for him, but we can't drown out the cheers from Eagles fans.

pryor was suspended for the first five college games...the nfl wouldnt be suspending him would they?

the question with him is would he have ultimately been suspended for the entire college season because of the new allegations of him taking money...you are supposed to only be eligible for the supp draft if you cant go back to college...and if he was only suspened for those five games he technically could have went back to ohio state and thus couldnt enter the supp draft

I think Goodell did a hell of a service not only for us of course, but for the fact that he guided a player in the right direction to a sturdy organization-actually showing some empathy and sound advice.

There also is no indication that either team even wanted him, only he wanted to play for them-so I don't think the story gets crazy hype.
