The Eagles are not trading either of these QB's mid-season, so it's pointless to debate it.  Which means that you guys will do so for another 37 pages.

it doesnt mean they literally are the best team in the conference or that they are even going to make the playoffs...but it means something as it relates to the argument that vick should be traded

it means mike kafka is not ready to play in this league....so for the team with the current best record in the conference to do that would be ridiculous

It's ridiculous that Andy will probably keep Vick and trot him out there every third play to run the wildcat but that is most likely what will happen if they keep Vick.  How many teams plan for their QB to be hurt and keep a legitimate backup.  Not many.  NE has Hoyer, Indy has Painter, Saints have Daniel, GB has Flynn...and on and on.  Vick is a distraction IMO and unless they plan to sign him long-term, why not trade him???

apples and oranges....those guys are low ceiling quarterbacks groomed to be nfl back ups basically mike kafkas...eagles fell into a former pro bowler athletic freak who they are trying to transform into a stud nfl quarterback

the locker room loves him...cobb loves him...andy loves him...and he was the early season mvp of the league who saved the eagles season...definite distraction

If you don't think Andy has Jeff Garcia's number on speed-dial, you're crazy, dude.

I do it find it funny that every time any eagles qb gets hurt, garcia's rep puts out a statement about him being contacted or notalmost immediately. Anyway I think his UFL contract prohibits him from joining any NFL team.

not true

the eagles would have to do a buy-out agreement of $150,000 then hes good

Almost as ludicrous as 65% of your posts or that Peter King thinks Vick was the MVP of the league after decent games against Detroit and Jax, but the only reason Vick wouldn't get traded is that nobody is buying.  They wouldn't get anything higher than a 3rd round pick for him (if that).  But I can hope that he goes so I don't have to see the QB's take turns behind center with each QB getting a special package each game(you know Andy will do it).  I want Andy to pick a guy and run with it.  Do you really think Vick will be content as a backup on this team now??

Neither player should be "content" to be the backup at this point, but that doesn't mean that the Eagles should just take a lowball offer for an excellent quarterback mid-season... especially when there might not even be a 2011 season.  This team may still be a longshot to win a Super Bowl, but it has sure benefited from having two solid QB's on the roster through 6 games.  Why would you now roll the dice by trading one away?

But as I've said before, if Reid is going to try some sort of combo shtein to give both QB's some snaps, that is basically the worst case scenario.

The Vick being late thing was only brought up by Jay Glazer and the implication was that he arrived late but its ok cause Reid told him he could. Didn't make sense but he didn't say any more.

That post falls under the 65%.

i would roll the dice.  My reasons are 1) I don't want my starting QB afraid to pull the trigger or make a mistake b/c the coach has him on a short leash 2) Possibly having the locker room divided b/c some guys are in camp Vick or camp Kolb etc..  3) My biggest problem is that Andy can't work this 2 QB thing when they are both healthy, he will tinker with it and split plays etc.  It will be maddening and ineffective.  So IMO, one guy needs to go, i happen to think it should be Vick.

#3 is the only reason that carrys any validity at all...and even that may be proven wrong...now that vick has shown he has his game legs back and has played great football particularly in throwing it perhaps the wildcat is now more effective...but maybe it wont be either...thats still not a reason to go with mike kafka as your back up qb

#1 i was in total agreement with before the season started but that theory has been blown out of the water by cobb and vicks relationship and the way each of them has acted....its no longer an issue...cobb is not the bedwetter

#2 has also long ago been proven untrue

seems to me you are grasping far and wide for reasons not to have vick on the team....and the more you try and validate that thinking the more its clear that you hate the man personally...which is your perogative but you shouldnt be analyzing the team because you let it cloud your judgement to the point that you are not looking out for the eagles best interests

1) Kolb looked afraid against Green Bay because of the game plan to have Vick coming in and out of the game.  He looked tentative against Washington after not getting any reps with the first team for a month.  However, no issues the last two weeks.  And if either guy plays worse because the backup is good player, then he deserves to get benched.  Big players aren't afraid of competition, but Reid can still farg it up (we'll get to that in #3).
2) Bullshtein reason.  Neither QB is pulling a McNabb/Owens and making the locker room decide anything.  Bitches worry about the locker room.
3) Following up from #1, this is the one way to screw it all up.  If Reid starts Kolb but feels he has to get Vick on the field, it's kaboom time.  Anyway, this is why I think Reid will go back to Vick after the bye - because he can't quit him.

Still, it's ridiculous to argue that a contending team should go out of their way to trade a QB mid-season for anything but a complete windfall.  Like a 1st and a really good player.  Thus... not happening.
