So their starting mlb goes down and they sign another DE? I guess he's a camp body until Abiamiri gets healthy.

QuoteHe was known for having a pre-game ritual where Friday nights before games Babin would eat an entire bucket of fried chicken, bones and all, to psych himself up.

Why would you want to run around for 3 hours after eating 10 pieces of fried chicken?
3 pieces and a biscuit just makes me want to take a nap.

LBIggle

it probably has something to do with the bones shredding his stomach.

QuoteBabin joins a Philadelphia franchise that has played in five consecutive NFC Championship games

I guess the NFL scratched, 2005, 2006 & 2007.  I have no problem with that.

QuoteEagles add linebacker, report says
With the season-ending injury to middle linebacker Stewart Bradley, the Eagles have added linebacker Matt Wilhelm, according to the San Diego Union Tribune.

Wilhelm, who was released by the Chargers before the start of training camp, agreed to a 1-year deal. There was no confirmation from the Eagles.

Wilhelm, 26, was a fourth-round pick of the Chargers in 2003 out of Ohio State and was primarily a special-teamer and backup, although he started 14 games in 2007 and split time as the starter at inside linebacker last season.

And if you want to all there is to know about Matt Wilhelm, here is a profile done on him by the newspaper's features section at the end of 2007.  Keep in mind the timing of the article before you judge his perfect CD mix.

More to come from Lehigh as the day gets going ...

DH

That's kinda interesting...the guy (Wilhelm) started 14 games in 07' and 6 last year. He even had 97 tackles and 3 picks in 07'. This isnt a Super Bowl type move, but I think this could be looked backed at as an underrated one in a few months from now.

Look test = fail

And then there's this:
QuoteAccording to Chargers.com, veteran linebacker Matt Wilhelm has been released from the team.
Now, normally I would never take pleasure in a man losing his job, but this is different.
Wilhelm was one of the most inept players to ever dawn a Chargers uniform.
Calling him a poor tackler would be an understatement. When Stephen Cooper was suspended for the first four games of the regular season in 2008 and Derek Smith (who was cut later during the 2008 season) was forced into his starting spot, the Chargers had the worst starting inside linebackers in the league. That was a major reason for the poor start of the season.
According to general manager A.J. Smith, Wilhelm was cut due to the signing of Kevin Burnett. But I think Wilhelm sealed his fate when he "high-fived" Santonio Holmes during last year's playoff game against the Steelers after Holmes scored a touchdown on a punt return, which changed the tempo of the entire game and enraged fans.
Linebackers are supposed to be some of the toughest men in the league. Wilhelm was afraid to make the most simple tackle, and even when he tried, he failed more often then not. He is slow, weak, and in over his head. He would be lucky to be a special teams player.

I have met Wilhelm in the past, and he seems like a really nice guy and I truly wish him the best, but I could not be happier that he is not longer a Charger.
