Got to hand it to the FO - it's been a great offseason

my .02 on dawkins since i wasn't around when he signed with denver:

has he slowed down?  yes.  am i pissed he's gone?  yes.  i look at it like this.....seeing as the front office did not sign a long term replacement for him, they easily could have brought him back and signed jones at the same time.  now you've got some depth at safety, dawkins' leadership and the ability to reduce his role on the field which would probably allow him to be a little more rested and fresh at the end of the year.

but i will say that on paper so far, the front office has done a pretty good job this year and has found some creative ways to fill some glaring holes on this team.  i hate seeing guys like tre and runyan go but they somehow managed to replace both of them with younger, talented players.

the one thing that i'm still not happy about though is them letting buck go.  despite all the knee problems he had, dude kept coming back, kept fighting and over the last couple years has been rediculously productive whenever he's on the field.  and if reid had any sense what so ever, he would have used him a lot more during the regular season to give westbrook a break and then maybe, the running game would have been a little more productive in the playoffs.

now if they can find a way to get boldin/edwards/ocho cinco, then i might be inclined to use the gold standard mantra minus the sarcasm.

buck was an awesome story but not an awesome running back...he can and will be easily replaced if the eagles do the right thing and get a knowshon or shady

troof, I would love either of those guys.  The guy I would most like to see wear green, that won't ever happen is Rey Maualuga.  The defense could use a guy with that type of killer instinct.

oh, i know he can be replaced.  this is really more of a fan based rant rather than football based becasue as a guy who's had a couple of torn acl's, i can honestly say that i'm overly impressed with his ability and determination to keep coming back the way he did.  this will sound extremely corny and probably even very "es-ish", but i found him to be somewhat inspiring.  and this is a guy that when the eagles drafted him, i wasn't a big fan of at all.  he's a tough sob though and i will miss watching his 3-5 carries every week.

no doubt...i love the guy too...probably my favorite eagle other than pimp...but i gotta be realistic and say they definitely can improve his position by a lot...and even tho i like him much better hes not a guy you have to keep like dawk (obviously)

I'm a definitely a Buck fan. Once he got his pop back the last couple of years he looked great and averaged about 5 YPC. I don't know that they will necessarily be able to replace his running ability although he did have other liabilities like his health and that he couldn't block worth shtein, which is big in their offense.

I wish him well in Denver.  My favorite pic is here, he looks like an ork in ballet slippers

RE: Dawkins. I'd have liked the team to re-sign him for another season or two, but I think he's the kind of guy they'll miss in the locker room more than they're going to miss him on the field. He can still play up in the box but Dawk was toast in coverage for the last few seasons and I have a feeling his career in Denver is going to greatly resemble Vincent in Buffalo or Taylor in Seattle.

RE: Buckhalter. I have really mixed feelings about this one. Buck looked great whenever he played but it was obvious the Eagles did not trust him with more than 70 or so carries per season. I have no idea why that is - maybe his injury history scared them off. I fully expect the Eagles to draft a RB early (Moreno or DBrown would be my hope) and maybe with more overall talent at RB they'll run the rock more? The one year they had the 3-headed monster going the Eagles were actually in the Top 10 in rushing attempts. With a monster OL, credible FB and another RB I hope they go back to a more balanced attack.

My two cents.

phreak?

Regardless of the good moves of Peters and Andrews, the way the Dawkins thing was handled was piss poor. The off-season is not over and they still have the draft to screw up. You'd think that since they signed Andrews and traded for Peters keeps them from drafting 3-4 project OL, but we shall see.

Also, it should be noted that while I like the Peters and Andrews moves; both have question marks. Will Peters be motivated and will Andrews be healthy?

Thanks for waiting for me to tell you how to feel, Todd.

The only improvement they have made so far IMO is get younger at the tackle position with the potential that the new guys will be better.

So that brings the offense back to the level that it was at when they lost to the Cardinals. They need a #2 RB badly.

It's very possible that this is the season Westbrook hit the wall. He's oldish and he's been hurt a million times. They need a dude who can contribute IMMEDIATELY because I trust Westbrook to hold up about as much as I trust IGY's taste in movies.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

Let them eat bootstraps.

I really want Moreno, i'm not a fan of how upright he runs, but the guy would be a good fit in this offense
