Economics.

Lowering the price below market value will drive the price up.

Eagles may be in the mix at a 2nd rounder...but true value will be a lot more. This just adds more buyers into the mix.

I'll suck my own chuck if he goes for nothing more than a 2nd rounder.

Trade the 1st, 3rd, and a 5th, move up and get Moreno. Then take the 2nd round pick, a 5th, and a 4th in next years draft and get Boldin. It would be the greatest offseason in team history and they'd still have late picks to play with. Offense would be set for the next 5 years.

i almost wish the news that a 2nd would get boldin didn't come out, because the thought of them both was pure lunacy...but now that theory can be based in logic and is fueling my fire of irrational hope.
