Dude, MOST companies...if they found out you blasted them (calling them retards, even worse) on a public forum, will fire your ass and fast. No warnings, nothing. Not sure why you are so offended by this.

The FO does PLENTY of actual shtein that is wrong. This is not one of them.

igs, back in my retail days I created a web page on my college personal website talking about how stupid our customers were.  Two days later I was called into the office and told to remove it or I'd be fired.  If you represent a company, you can't write stuff that attacks them or misrepresents them on the internet.  If this guy didn't work for the Eagles, he'd be no different from you and me.  The Eagles aren't going after fans and asking them to remove their comments....

it's cold, it's petty, it's the Eagles, but it's something that would probably happen in any other job.

i got in trouble for simply listing my company on myspace profile and it was the 2nd thing that came up when people googled out company name, if it had been anybody other than me, they probably would've been gone...there was some not nice stuff on there.

apples and prime meridians....you bash customers of a company youre potentially taking money out of your employers pockets...you should have been fired on the spot...yet you werent...thats what im talking about when say not all companies would do this...

It's the same reason why Spadaro doesn't say "I don't know what the F*** they're thinking" in his columns or MB responses.  This guy, as insignificant as his job might be, was paid by the Eagles and made comments against them.  He could've said it to his friends (if mummers have any outside their geek circle) or family and gotten away with it....but saying it on the internet is public domain and different.

you were going into the pockets of your own employer by sabotaging their customer base and you kept your job (so we know that all companies dont fire people for things much worse)...this cat made an off the cuff four word statement on a friggin myspace page about a move the team made and got fired

we know the eagles have the right to do what they did...we also know they they are raging semen swallowers for doing it...no question eagle employees have done much worse than this cat and kept their job...hell spadaro has criticized the team on wip worse than what this guy did

this has everything to do with the atmosphere that exists regarding dawk and nothing to do with this guy hurting the organization....it was petty bitter and childish and theres no (non legal) defense for it

Wrong.  He publicly stated that his employer was "retarted" - on a public message forum that can be found and viewed by anyone with Google.  This is absolutely a fireable offense.  As GF said, everyone with half a brain should know you don't do that on the Internet.

If one doesn't know that this organization is tighter than a bulls ass in fly-time, they have not been paying attention. This outcome is not surprising. The employee is flat-out wrong, and the org is well within their rights to do do as they have done.

But....

The term was botched (if truly how it happened) - you NEVER term someone over the phone - how chicken shtein. For this offense a reprimand and double secret probation was perhaps warranted, but regardless it was the method of term that will bite the FO, and is indicative of their culture of arrogance, hubris and how little they value community PR. That the media wants to lever this is transparent as they will try to embarrass the FO any way they can - which is also understandable.

What will be interesting is if an attorney can be located who will try to advocate discrimination via the process of the term, particularly if the FO has been uneven in application of policy. If you are going to be a "hard-ass" enforcer of policy, it better be evenly applied to all employees in all circumstances.
